Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Anyone having issues with vibration from texting? When I turn on vibration mode, it automatically switches back to silent mode. It's as if my sound settings aren't sticking. When I have it on sound + vibrate, only sound comes out. It may seem as if vibration isn't working at all but whenever I use the notification widget for sound, it vibrates.. Any ideas? I tried clearing cache and dalvik then reapplying the ROM but it's still the same.

EDIT: never mind it doesn't change back by itself but it just doesn't vibrate when receiving texts. The vibration settings in my go SMS pro seems to be right...

Even though you use goSMS, try opening the stock messaging app, press menu key and select Settings, scroll down to Notification settings, set Vibrate to Always. Let us know if that works. ;)

For the love of all that's holy Jerry... please, change to Dropbox. :( There's no ads covering up your downloads. Hell, there's no ads period.

Get Adfree Android from the market. It will block ads on websites and apps.

I believe she is already using Adfree as am I. I also get some ads on mediafire but not always. For me I have to click download twice because mediafire doesn't download the first time.

I plan on flashing my first theme and had a quick question. I found some themes in the following post:

http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...hemes-post-your-backside-rom-themes-here.html

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way to go back to the stock look after flashing a theme is to flash another theme (such as "Theme Reverter"). Is that correct?

I'm running the 20120313 build. It appears that "Theme Reverter" hasn't been updated to 20120313. If I can't find a theme that puts me back to stock, I would have to reflash the entire ROM?

You can make yourself a "Theme Reverter" from the ROM's SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk, but its easier just to do nandroid backup and if you don't like the theme restore it.

So, simply boot into Recovery mode and perform a backup? Is this a nandroid backup?

I'm still having problems with the Bluetooth.

I finally got my contacts to sync with my car and it's operating as it did before. Now, the sound quality of the phone over bluetooth is terrible. It is hard to describe, but the sound is very "electronic". It sounds like I'm in the Transformers movie. Its almost as if something is electronically interfering with the bluetooth.

I took a backup prior to flashing this ROM. I will likely restore the backup to see how the sound quality is.

Guys, try AdAway. I used to have all those problems with AdFree not blocking many ads, but with AdAway... not anymore.

It won't download onto my phone. Keep getting an "error processing payment" popup from the market. Odd because it's free. Dunno what's up with it. :(

Edit: I side-loaded it from another site the author has linked from his homepage. Got it installed! :)

Hmmm, that's weird... I just uninstalled mine and installed it again with no issues. Oh, well, glad you did it anyway.

Hmm that's peculiar.. When I try to go into my stock messaging settings, it freezes then force closes.. =(

Yes I agree. Dropbox is great. I use it to sync all my various apps, etc AND the PRO version of TB can sync to it :-)
Dropbox is a great tool, but I don't think it will work for distributing a ROM.

BACKside-IHO is ~70mb, multiply that times an average of 2500 downloads each build, and an average of 4 builds per month, that's approximately 684gigs per month. It's pretty easy to eat up a bandwidth allotment in no time. I'm just glad mediafire has allowed me to do this on a free account, otherwise I don't know how I would distribute it. ;)

Well I have sent you PM's before Jerry saying I would be more then happy to host your files for you, via ftp, and http on my domain.

No adds, no pop ups, no crap, just a place for simple hosting, unlimited bandwidth, and far more space then you would requir.

Had a strange issue the past few days on the February build, where my camera screen would have a bunch of horizontal and vertical lines on it, almost like a grid but more scattered. If I took a picture and viewed it, the lines would not be there. I also saw the lines while watching videos in multiple apps. Then this morning, I woke up and my screen was on by itself and just static like an old TV. It would still vibrate when I tried to unlock it but the screen wouldn't change. Weird! I rebooted and it was back to normal.

I just updated to the March build; so far no lines on the camera. Rebooting would fix it on the old build temporarily, though. Guess I'll just have to wait and see!
