Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Is anyone else having troubles getting the new Green recovery to install? I see it installing through the backside updater on my phone, but then even if I reboot the phone and go back in there it still says version 3.2. I even tried to flash it via recovery but I cannot see the img file in the Downloads directory.

I even made sure that I wasn't trying to install the previous version.. I deleted it off my SD card. Any ideas?

CWM-Green is not V3.3, the BacksideUpdater is V3.3 ;)

When I downloaded it to my phone, it ended up being a txt file. I renamed the file to img and tried it but it wouldn't boot to recovery. I then downloaded it from my computer, transfered it to my phone and used backside updater to install it and this time it worked.

Thank you Jerry! I think I'm more excited about the update to your recovery than the ROM itself! One suggestion though, it would be nice if the updater could check for updates for your recovery as well. I have no idea what it would take to code that, or even if it's possible, but I think that would give your work a more integrated, polished feel.
If you open the BacksideUpdater, then select Show All Versions, the latest version of CWM-Green is always at the bottom of the list.

I don't use auto-checks for the installed recovery, due to the fact people have various reasons to use different recoveries. I did consider following VM's lead and forcing the recovery on you via the boot.img, but I hate being limited by my choosen software. ;)

Downloaded twice via BACKside updater and both times I had a md5 mismatch. This would be the first time I've ever had a md5 mismatch. Any ideas?

I just did a manual Md5 check.. and it seems that the one thats in my Updater is actually wrong, not the downloaded one.. which is very odd considering im the only one with this problem so far. guess its one of those bugs that are a hit and miss and only occurs rarely. anyway, updating now. :)

Rebooted phone, and that "bug" vanished. now im going to update via BACKside updater.
So it was one of those 1 in a million chance bugs. :p

There is the tvall kernel in the ATR Guide sticky you can flash to tied you over untill the next update. Just flash it. No wipe. Should see a little zippier response.

I checked it out, and it said it didn't "play well with Link2SD"... so I can't use Link2SD along with that kernel? D:

Not sure if it's supposed to work correctly yet, but just thought I'd mention it.

Seems like my auto-install function doesn't work. The phone boots into recovery, wipes cache, doesn't wipe dalvik, then the phone reboots without installing anything. Using 5-2 CWM green recovery and updating from 4-17 to 5-2 ROM.

same thing happened with me, so i just did a manual install, vol+ is the up key, vol- is the down key, and Home is the 'ok' key, and back is, well.. the back key.

I experienced the same thing. As far as the md5 goes, mine was okay but the download straight up failed five times. I was getting abysmal transfer speeds, then it would hang around forty megs. About an hour later it downloaded without a problem, like it always does. Whatever was going on isn't Jerry's fault. I'm a little bummed the new auto update misfired, I know it was working before...maybe it works with the previous version? I've had probably a dozen different recoveries on my phone over the past year or so, now I can't remember which did what! :o

I tried it with Link2SD and it didn't play well at all.

Never had any problems with all tval's kernels and Link2SD. Using 0.3 with the last two BackSide's and it's all good. Maybe it's the ext type? Mine is ext4.
I used to have sd card mounting problems at boot(both in Android and recovery, card not detected) from time to time and I thought it's my shitty card but I haven't experienced it with tval's kernels so I'm starting to think it was kernel issue.
tval's kernel rocks for me...

Did you say your are using ext.4
That means that the BACKside ROM can be used with ext.2 and ext.4. I might have to try one of those partition formats. It will give me a chance to try out tvall's kernel. I will also edit the ATR Guide to reflect this new info.
Thanks

I tested tvall's 3.0 kernel before he released it, may standard set up is the latest BACKside, Link2SD w/ 2gb ext4 at /sd-ext on 16gb card. I had massive problems with stability, kernel panics and the like. We had attributed it to Link2SD because without that, it ran fine...
I suppose it's another case of your mileage may vary. Worst case scenario, reboot into recovery and flash bobz kernel back.

Hey brotherswing. Could you put the BobZohme kernel in the All Things Root Guide. I have been to busy in my personal life the last few days and need to catch up with all my Guide duties. Thanks my green brother.

First time I used the auto install. Seemed really fast.
How can I verify it installed the updated rom?
