Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Hmmm, thanks for trying it, I think I borked the kernel change, my phone still shows v1.2. I'll post a new build with BobZhome's kernel this weekend. Sorry for the trouble.

Two other things:

1) The Bootloader option wasn't there when I first loaded the new build. After a reboot it came back.

2) The camera sounds were still in the build, which made the video camera not record sound again. I had to delete the ogg files again.

Is the internal app moved as good as App2SD?

No because the app moving that comes with the ROM doesn't move the dalvik- cache or the library files which come with apps. You'll save more space doing that yes.. But you won't reach a ridiculous number of apps like let's say.. 224 like I do hehe.. If you don't want the enormous amount of space then perhaps that would work for you. Otherwise,I recommend Link 2SD

I'm getting an error with 3G. Anytime I open a browser, it directs me to the VMUSA site, and prompts me to login, which I cannot do as I get the following error:

Data Connectivity Problem: A secure connection could not be established.

No idea of this is the ROM, the carrier, or me. Works fine on wifi, though...calls/text also unaffected.

3G is fine here. Maybe it's VM?

why isnt this thread stickied? and how do i reflash the rom i just want everything fresh to like the point i have to reflash rom and gapps

thanks but that didn't help.

wifi drops a lot too on for some reason which I never had a problem with on aosp's. (but aosp had bluetooth and GPS issues) so I'm trying some of the other IHO builds (on BobZ's right now)

I hope in time some of the bugs in Backside rom get worked out. but it did occur to me that they could be from Blarf or IHO itself. or some obscure configuration I'm using.

I am also seeing issues with WiFi dropping out with this ROM. I used the latest recovery from ROM Manager (3.2.0.1). I also had some issues trying to connect bluetooth to a radio in my pickup (bluetooth kept turning off on the phone and then coming back on). Maybe I will try the older recovery and see if that helps.

You need to do all these things(this must be done when installing a new ROM or restoring a backup, or wiping and reflashing a fresh ROM)
1.wipe cache partition.
2.wipe dalvik cache(advanced section)
3.wipe data/factory reset. Now that your rooted YOU MUST NEVER USE THE FACTORY RESET IN THE PRIVACY MENU ON THE PHONE
4.format boot,system,data,and cache
5.go to install zip from sd card
6.go to select zip from sd card, chose the ROM first. It will go thru the install procedure. When done go back to step 6. and select the gapps. I usually wait to flash the theme until I've rebooted the ROM a couple of times to tighten it up.
When all this is done select reboot system now.

It will take 5-10min. for the initial reboot. You will be asked to sign in,skip this.

Now you can go to the market app and click on it and sign in to your google account(you must have your e-mail address and log in code).Reboot the phone twice then set up your apps. Once you get everything set up just the way you like it and all your apps are just where you want them,go back into your recovery and make a backup of that ROM.

If you want to install a theme all you have to do is go into the recovery and wipe cache partition and dalvik cache, then do the same thing you did to install the ROM(theme must remain zipped)
When you need to install an update to an installed ROM,all you have to do is wipe cache, and dalvik.

To change the boot animation (must remain zipped) go to /system/media(make sure that you have changed permission of the system from r/o to r/w) and delete the boot animation found there. Then copy the boot animation you have on the sd card and paste it where the old animation used to be(on next reboot it will be there)

New build is up, removed bootloader from the reboot menu, switch to Blarf's v2 kernel to work with newer screens

You will probably need to flash gapps, ymmv, only adds 1 1/2 minutes to the entire process. ;)

I guess my phone has one of the newer screens :(. Signing into any of the gapps would fail after updating to 9/16 from build 8/25, without having a clue why this error occurred. Sure enough, reflashing gapps solved the problem after hours of troubleshooting. Reading this post beforehand would have saved me lots of time! Is there any way this info can make it to the first post for easier access? Thank you

I just wanted to let people know about buying extended batteries if you guys haven't already looked into it. I believe stock battery is 1500mAh? right? You can find some really cheap ones on eBay that are about 2000mAh-3000mAh. The one I bought from China is 3600mAh which is pretty massive! xD It's well worth it though! Lasts about 1 and 1/2 to 2 days on regular use (remember to use JuiceDefender!) But JUST today... I looked on eBay and saw 3900MAH!! oh em gee.... >_< seems a bit ridiculous.. anyways, there have been posts over here: [Review][WIP] 3600mAh Extended Battery with Backplate - Android Forums and.. over here: 3000 mAh battery - Android Forums Just a heads up for you folks who didn't know ^_^ (Buy 'em from eBay much cheaper! Got my 3600mAh for about $12 bucks free shipping! Only problem is, it took like 2 weeks)

The only issue with those is allot don't have capacitators and will over heat till they explode also some will say there so large when there not. They hack the internal chip to output that reading. There ok to use just be cautious about how hot your phone is.

Oh deer.. you mean it could be less than what it says?? Is there anyway to check how much mAh it actually is? Some people with 3000mAh are stating they're getting 2-3 days and I've got a 3600mAh one.. only getting 1-2 days :(

Also what's a good temp?

OH and yes they provide a larger back cover with the extended battery.

I'm not sure the details on how to test it they do it allot with SD cards mp4 players(they call them that) so I assume they can also do it with the battery. I may be wrong but I do know they remove the temp capacitors to cut back costs and they do explode. There are apps that can give you the battery info if you fully charge it then run it out.

Heres some info on fake batteries

well here's a screenshot of the battery info in the spare parts app that comes with this ROM

New buid up, lots of changes over the weekend, should only need to wipe cache/dalvik

-- Changed wifi supplicant scan interval to 60 to save battery, if it gives you issues, you can change in in the build.prop file
-- Changed to BobZhome's kernel, lots of tweaks, all screen should work now
-- Edited build.prop to reflect changes in OV2.2.2 and OS-ZVH versions
-- Added supercharger settings and other tweaks to build.prop
-- Center clock in status bar, thanks to Drew
-- Removed trackball settings, never could find it on my phone
-- Added extra camera button settings
-- Added Build ID to Device info menu, with a thanks to Blarf (find it)

I recomend flashing gapps after flashing my builds, it's usually necessary due to my build/sign process.

Do not use previous Green Machine Theme's with this build, I'll have a new theme version up by the end of the day, so long as UOT Kitchen is back up. ;)

They should be. I flashed to BobZhomes ROM last night and was able to restore using link2sd and titanium backup. All was good.

Hi JerryScript,
Been using this awesome ROM for quite some time and love it. Last update (9/19) decreased my phone's performance significantly. Was getting linpacks in the upper 9s low 10s and quadrant in the 1200s (480/844hz is stable for me) and now I get about half of that (linpack in the 5s and quadrant in the 600s). Have rebooted 3 times because I know sometimes it takes a while for Kernel to kick in but that has not helped. Restoring my 9/16 backup for now. Thought I'd share the feedback and wondering if others had the same problem
