Sorry about the notification sounds not playing, I've isolated the issue, and will have a new build up soon with it fixed. If you need notification sounds, you can flash the 1017 build for now. Sorry for the trouble.

I have been out of service for over 4 days now, been using wifi. Just got back service, and my messaging notifications don't work either...
EDIT: I will probably be reverting back to the 10172011 build due to the notification glitch
EDIT2: How do I revert back to an earlier build? Never had a single problem with 10172011, so I will probably stick on that one for a long while.
Is this one the best versions? I've been hanging on to the 0831211 version because it has been working reasonably well for me. With the exception of the phone not doing well GPS and other apps at the same time. The GPS/navigation app crashes frequently. But.. still acceptable given all things.
Since upgrade/rom change is really a pain, I would welcome if people could report what releases have been more "stable". I love how much development is put into this phone but with that comes instability for which I don't have much time to play with now
I'm having lots of problems with my phone. I think most of my problems might be something not related to the 11/01/2011 Rom so maybe this isn't the best place to post.
1. My phone freezes, locks up, and force closes A LOT. I'll frequently be using some app when suddenly everything freezes and becomes unresponsive. The power button to turn off the screen wont even work. Sometimes it will resolve itself, sometimes it will give me the choice of force close or wait, and othertimes i cant do anything until it turns the screen off itself. Also very frequently will freeze at the lock screen as I type my PIN to unlock.
1.a. Frequently when I unlock my phone and return to whatever app I had opened last, the app is unresponsive and i have to force close it. I was using Maps a lot yesterday and kept having to force close and restart everytime I unlocked.
2. GPS refuses to connect. I traveled from Clarksville, TN to Nashville, TN last night (around 1 hour trip) and couldn't connect to GPS I would say 90% of the time. Once I got outside of Clarksville (a slightly bigger small farm town) I lost connection. The entire time I approached, was in, and passed Nashville I had no GPS connectivity. Even right now in my hotel, my GPS is placing me about 50 miles southwest of where I am.
2.a. I think this may be a problem with my laptop more than my phone. I set up a wireless ad-hoc so I can connect to my hotels internet through my laptop (because my 3G speed is super slow). When connecting to my laptop my phone endlessly cycles saying "connecting" then suddenly displaying "disconnected"
2.b. And while I'm at it, why is my 3G speed so slow? I've had it since late April and only 1 time have I seem my 3G speed above 100kB/s using the Speedtest.net app. Even here in the eastern outskirts of Nashville my it says p/d/u = 103ms / 85.1kB/s / 33.1kB/s.
3. There is no time visible in the status bar. There is a blank space of where the written time would be. I tried changing the font color but still nothing is there.
4. For the notification power widget (the buttons at the top in the pull down notifications) I have the brightness button. I press the button to change the brightness but nothing happens. It used to work no problem until I updated.
There was a last minute commit to CM7 that I didn't pull in before I built the 1101 BACKside that borked the notification sounds. If you rely on notification sounds, here's a fixed build, if it doesn't really bother you, you can wait for the next build with significant changes. Sorry for the troubles.

Got do /etc/init.d/ and move the 01mvdalvik file or rename it to 01mvdalvik.bak. Then clear the market cache and data. Reboot recovery and wipe cache and dalvik.
Thank you Jerry. I appreciate your quick response.what was the cause if you don't mind me asking

Make sure you have write access to rename it. I moved mine to /mnt/sdcard/.Where should I move this? I tried renaming it but the operation failed.

There's only one slight problem I'm facing (which isn't a big deal cause it fixes itself) when my phone is plugged in, it will sometimes charge up to a random percent and the discharge slowly till the battery dies (while plugged in) and then recharge normally and hold its charge.. it rarely happens, not just on my OEM battery, but on my 2 spare ones as well. Its not to much of an issue cause it rarely happens, like maybe once or twice randomly every month or so. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this.
Are you using a wall charger or USB port?
If it's a USB port, some computers change their power settings when in sleep or standby mode. This could cause the USB hub to lose power.
A wall charger.. and actually, after having the latest build for a day now, I can't seem to really charge my phone, the highest I've seen it at was 69% but that's after about 9 hours of charge time..
Those of you out there experiencing short life on their V. I have been flashing and flashing and flashing since I got my phone in April. At this point out of the numerous times I have flashed it has killed the battery life on the original battery. About a month or two ago I purchased the 2800mah extended battery for $25 from Amazon. Since then I enjoy 2 to 3 days of average use on a full charge. Anytime I flash I just throw in the old battery. I know its not the best economical suggestion but I would refer it to everybody. Extended batteries are awesome.
Oh and thanks for the newest update and being so speedy with the notification fix Jery. IMO it's the best Backside's ever been.
They come with a new battery cover, because they are larger than the stock battery. If you have a case, chances are it will not fit.Do the extended life batteries fit in the phone just as well as the factory? I have heard other phones where u can't put the back on the phone with the bigger battery.
