Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

The power widget seems a little buggy on the latest build. I have a button to toggle brightness levels between dim and 100% and I'm noticing that when I hit it the yellow box that surrounds the icon display will come up but it wont highlight the icon and activate. It will usually work the second time I try it, though.

Also noticed some lag here and there with the widget, too.

Is that all the time, or right after boot up? Lag is normal for about 5 minutes after boot up, but shouldn't be an issue after that.

It was happening all the time. Like I said though, if I kept messing with it after the initial toggle attempt it would be fine. Then I would resume whatever I was doing for awhile, come back to see if I could recreate what happened and it always did it. I thought maybe it had something to do with Green Machine so I flashed the theme revert for the 11/01 build and still had the problem. Decided to flash back to 10/17 and STILL noticed it for some odd reason. I finally went into the widget button area, selected the dim/100% setting again, clicked OK, and now it seems to be back to normal.

Not sure what the deal with this was, but I'd be interested to see if anyone else is noticing this. I play with your ROMs a lot Jerry and can notice when anything is out of touch with how it usually is. Kinda OCD about everything on my phone to tell you the truth, haha.

I'm gonna stick with the 10/17 build until your next one comes out. This is probably my favorite build since the beginning of this project. Everything works flawlessly for my needs.

I just happen to have a friend who just got back from a cross country trip to Florida and back. He said that the clock did change eventually, but it was not immediate. This makes sense due to the fact the phone needs some method of knowing it is in a new time zone. Once you are far enough across the line, the cell phone towers may trigger a change in the phone, until then only GPS or manual settings can change it.

Maybe if you run a sync of your Google account after crossing the time zone

Jerry is right. From the Permissions thread on Opera Mobile, "..your location can be determined by three different methods: (1) GPS, (2) nearby WiFi APN and (3) Cell ID. Each method has pros and cons regarding speed and accuracy."

So maybe connecting to a hotel/coffee shop network or using the GPS will update the time immediately without having to wait for the cell networks to automatigically do it for you.

I'll test this out when traveling across states over TG weekend.

Thanks guys! I just need to be patient then and let it catch up. :)

My play/pause functionality seems to be gone across the board, both in the notification widget and on the lock screen and long press camera button. Do you think reflashing will fix this?

The one with the bubbles. Reflashing didn't help... I'm pretty sure it was working just a day ago and I don't think I've changed anything. Next and previous both work. Weird.

huh. Just realized what was going on. Voice actions by Pannous updated today. When I opened up that program the play/pause was acting as a shortcut to enable/disable listening (as in waiting for voice input). I froze the app and now it's working again as it should. Thanks for the quick response, I had no idea it was just a misbehaving app. Love your build by the way, this is by far my greatest hobby :D

Don't worry, you're not leaving BACKside, he built the ICS theme on top of BACKside-IHO!
Flashed it last night. Worked fine until my first reboot, then it wouldn't boot past the IHO screen. Restored my backup of the 1102 build, will try flashing again today when I don't need my phone for a while.

Does anyone use the built in tethering under wifi and networks? Not sure what the cause is but when I try to connect my computer to the connection I always have to troubleshoot because there is only a limited connection. Once I troubleshoot it once or twice an internet connection is made. Has anyone had this problem or is it recommended to use easy tether or a similar app?

I just flashed the 11-12 build of backside last night and put the brightness toggle in the notification power widget and when I hit the button to change the brightness, it switched to some weird symbol and I can't get it to change. I've tried taking the button out if the power widget bar and putting it back in bit it comes up as the same thing that it switched to the first time. Tried a reboot and it did nothing.
Is this phone specific or are others having this problem too?

Can you take a picture of what you are describing

I have been using the brightness notification widget for some time now. haven't experienced a problem yet. fingers crossed

anyone else having problems with the orientation notification widget? I try pressing it and it doesn't do anything. I tried changing the setting manually, but the auto rotate button is already checked in display settings.. It still doesn't auto rotate.. I also tried un checking and re checking it but it stays checked. Any ideas?

That is the auto mode, you will need to configure the button. Options are Auto, Dim, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%.

Wow *facepalm*
I notice it's a different configuration top choose your brightness...I like it better than the other builds I've used...

Thanks again btw

Hopefully that works
Also, when I press on the button nothing happens

hrmmm.. I have noticed something quite strange. Your Clear button for your notifications is below your notifications rather than above them. Is it normally like that? And guessing from the looks of that theme, you are using the same one I am, the ICS theme from boykioy from XDA.

I've been having issues with my phone crashing (running 11/2, but had same problem with the previous two builds), sometimes every two minutes. I've reflashed the rom from scratch a few times, yet I still seem to develop the problem after a half-day or so.

Two things occur to me: 1. it seems to crash when I quickly scroll down the screen regardless of what program I am using; and 2. it also seems to happen when I have a low 3g signal. Could any of these be the culprit?

Thanks!

Yeah i'm using the ics theme from xda. The clear button has been below my notifications since I started using this theme so I guess that's normal lol. It works fine at least.
Also, not a big deal, but I fixed the brightness modes but my widget button still shows that it's on auto although it switches through the different brightnesses just fine
