Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

For Kmod

I have a bug to report... When changing wallpapers, they sometimes don't change, and will automatically revert back to the original included in the ROM. A small bug, but FYI
 
Has BobZhome taken over maintaining cm7 from PlayfulGod or are these two different versions? If so, what are the differences? I also think we should have separate threads for each ROM since there are a few different ones now.

they are the same roms but with different setting and customizations...
 
AARRGGGHH!!! just installed CM7 for the first time and I am having some problems. The first one is, Wheres the Market App?

I cant get apps to install through my PC and I dont know how to install them on my phone without the market app. I think everything else I will figure out sooner or later on my own, but this has me stumped.

you need to flash gapps for your market to be on your phone.

I'm still the official maintainer and havent stopped yet lol. Bob has been compiling builds since isaac first setup his repo and I will go as far to say prolly has a better grasp on how it all works than me. So he and I will collaborate on possible fixes when and if they come about, Yet prolly still put out separate builds.

gapps = google apps. CM7 is based off AOSP (pure android src) and doesnt include gapps. So a separate zip needs to be flashed is all.

what he said, click the link in my siggy to go to wiki and you can download gapp 03072011 and move it to your sd card, than boot into recovery and flash gapps like you did with cm7, install from zip.
 
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and also new to flashing ROMs. It is a little overwhelming trying to pick up bits and pieces of this thread and try to gather the install process for the gapps and the cm7.
Can anyone put together a single post with step by step on installing and flashing, with required software.

I am exited to try the upgrade and have some fun like everyone seems to be having.

Best guides around, just pick which one you want to install and follow the directions.

My latest build is available via rom manager now too.

No, I haven't taken over...I'm just sharing my builds with others.
The differences right now is PG's rom is pimped out with CM7.1RC0 and my rom is vanilla(plain) with cm7.1RC1.

Yes, as so as I get my repo fixed we can work on some improvements. My first improvement will be working on better battery life.
 
I just flashed the Kmod. I like it so far except for the font. Is there anyway of changing it. The market was stalling but it seems to be getting better. I had to reboot a couple of times and force close the market to get it up and running. thanks for the new build.

I use font changer from the market. Just have to dl what fonts ya want n place them in its folder on the sdcard, open app, select font, apply, reboot.

PG, you've been fantastic, but I couldn't get mine to do anything under your build. No market, couldn't connect to anything. What did I do wrong? I tried KMod and it messed up my sounds, and wallpaper was kinda' funky. I have noticed I have one of the slow Ascends, just my luck. Did I flash the wrong version of gapps or something? I have cricKet, if that matters, and your build said MetroPCS.

Nah mines cricket by default, metro users have to flash metroff. What version of gapps did you flash?
 
Hey I found a bug when I go to spare parts to change font size for the settings menu it goes back to default. After awhile. Not a big bug but kinda annoying btw I'm running kmod OC'd @691
