The only issue I have is with syncing my contacts from my Cricket backup, since that stock app is gone, can anyone shine some light on this issue for me.

from cricket dunno. I backup n sync my contacts via google. That way no matter what android device I am on I have access to my stuff ;)
 
Anyone know how to get into programming mode with cricket on CM7? When I do the ##626* it tries to dial it. I need to change my MIN. Is there another way to change my MIN?

And thanks PG...nice work...I'm runnin 0624...and it kicks A$$!
 
Whenever I try to do a nandroid backup in CWM 3.0.0.5 I get this message
"E:failed to mount /sd-ext (No such device)
Could not mount sd-ext. sd-ext backup may not be supported on this device. Skipping backup of sd-ext."

Everything else backs up fine.

Any suggestions?

I get that on mine and it has a sd-ext lol. Nothing to worry about ;)

I ask because I'm gonna upgrade to an 8gb card tonight and just wanna make sure everything is gonna transfer over or will i have to do a complete wipe/reinstall/partiton... I might just wait for the RC1 update

Also even though i know I've done everything right, I can't seem to get my mms working. I've re-downloaded the metroff and flashed it more than once but to no avail....

I know this is a shot in the dark, but one thing I hate about these Ascends is the low volume when playing media. I hook it up to my car and listen to Pandora, and it's horribly soft. I've tried to play with the EQ setting sin CM7, but it barely makes a dent. I was hoping this could replace my Ipod touch, but at the moment it's not happening. Anyone know of any apps, fixes, or can this be implemented into the next ROM? Thanks as always - Joe

ik i dont have any luck with this. but here my problem. my mms works sending, but not receiving . ascend using the last build. works like a charm except the receiving mms . dont even show up. n i am on cricket. any ideas?

i tried to add apn threw the open apn trick. didnt work
tried the airplain mode.. didnt work

honestly i will even txt if it easier just pm me ill giv ya my number

Hey guys, i'm new here and I got my ascend a couple months ago and after the 2.2 update was released i figured i'd go and download CM7 and get it on my phone but i've had nothing but problems installing it...

I've tried the 06.24.2011, 06.18.2011, and 05.21.2011 builds, and followed the instructions in MegaAndroid94's CM7 tutorial video on Youtube.

The main steps I've followed are backup in clockwork, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, install zips...

Clockwork version i'm using: 3.0.2.4
both the file sizes are: 78,327KB for CM7 and 5,764KB for gapps. And I downloaded both from the wiki and saved directly to the SD card to prevent corruption.

How long does CM7 usually take to boot the first time providing I've done it right?

I don't see in your steps that you posted above anywhere about formatting boot, system, data, and cache.

I am not familiar with the youtube video you talk about. I have read where some of the videos are missing steps. I use this guide for my ROM installs.... http://androidforums.com/ascend-all-things-root/320265-ultimate-ascend-customization-guide.html . In the first posting is all the instructions for doing a proper installation.
 
First, a huge THANKS to all involved in developing the CM7-Ascend-BobZ ROM! Honestly, my Ascend was a day away from becoming my dog's new chew toy until I flashed from that POS stock ROM... Thanks again.

My only issue is that the headphones DO NOT work on calls. The icon pops up, I can use the P/U,H/U button on the headset, yet no audio ON CALLS ONLY. With all other audio, it works fine. I'm chalking it up to me being a total noob.... If there is any info, or current/in progress fixes anyone can provide, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
 
I tried updating the kernal, and now it sits and the little blue android screen, how long does it usually take to boot? If this doesn't work, I can go back and flash the ROM over again, correct?
 
Disappointing, you wouldn't think 20 mhz would make a difference, but running at 691 to 710, it makes a large jump in performance, but it just restarts. I guess I should have known... Damn you phone! lol

use your track ball to select (in order) the following commands

wipe data/ factory reset
wipe cache

advanced

wipe dalvik cache

press the back button (the arrow) on your phone.
under mounts and storage, format following...
boot
data
system
cache

What does wiping the factory reset do? I don't think I've ever done that, but Icarus and CM7 installed ok... Should I be doing this if I flash a ROM in the future?

Download the cwm.zip---------> CWM Recovery 3.0.2.8.rar (Thanks to Jazzette for this from her icarus 1.1 guide)

make sure usb debugging is turned on (menu button, settings, applications, development, usb debugging)

boot your phone into debug mode (fastboot) press, in order, VOLUME ROCKER DOWN+END (HANG UP)+ POWER. your phone will stay at the huawei screen. attach to pc using usb cord.

open the cwm.zip and extract the files
open the cwm folder
open the following files (you may see the dos box open briefly, this shows it worked all file are labeled according to os, choose for your os)

adb
fastboot
install recovery

unplug your phone from the pc and remove the battery for ten seconds.

boot to cwm VOLUME ROCKER UP+CALL BUTTON+POWER

you should see a black screen with orange text. you now have cwm

you will run into some problems, its recommended to do thos step to avoid errors later
