Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Ok so i am trying BobZhomes CM7..of course first boot is taking forever..lol...but gonna wait and see how it goes after a couple of boot ups.

One thing i have to say is that i wish there were some way that the dev's who have done an excellent job on the CM7 project could somehow include the MetroOFF so that it is not a seperate thing to do when flashing. Just an idea...As i don't know crap about cooking these roms, i don't have the first clue on how hard that would be.

Since there are two cell carrier's using the Ascend it is easier to have the MetrOff as a seperate download. Other wise they would have to make two builds and post each.

the metro off takes less than 3 seconds to flash it.

nah i don't have a problem with flashing the metro off..it was easy..Just stating it would be nice if that did not have to be done...So far so good, i am very impressed with BOBZHOMES CM7, and although i reverted to good old GOLAUNCHER EX, it was nice to see ADW on there. Boot times are fantastic after about the 3rd reboot...No problems with boot animations working on it...The only problem i am having is when i switch over to better keyboard 8, it keeps force closing with an error for the android system keyboard. Going to update BK 8 and see if that does the trick

i also had an issue with better keyboard 8 that i had on my sdcard, but i just ran fix permission in recovery and went to market and got a fresh install and never had that problem again... And also i see what you was saying about the metro off, yes it would be better to compile it in the build just like how cm6 was, but you never know what the next few builds might bring...

Oh trust me i will be keeping my eyes peeled over the next few builds...great things are coming...great things..

Thanks for the advice on better keyboard..i am using Titanium to Freeze the Android keyboard to see if the will do the trick

I have frozen and killed everything bad up in the 860 action. Keyboard vale verga! I have swift key. Sorry bud lights in effect here...:cool:

CM6/7 aren't cooked ROMs, they are compile from src. One day when I am bored and have my current build ready to release (wifi not working atm), I will look and see if its something I can do w/o to much hassle, then again how long does it really take to flash MetrOFF 30sec tops? lol

PG i do appreciate your input on making this a much better product for everyone, and like i said i don't know how these ROMs are done, wehter they be compiled, cooked or whatever. I am just extremely greatful that they are there, and actually the MetroOFF takes maybe 5 seconds to flash..
 
I am having a similar problem with my keyboard. I use swype and love it however my phone sometime reverts back to the android keyboard, which I can't type on to save my butt.

Is it true that I could use titanium backup and freeze the stock keyboard. I have only used the free version of titanium backup so I will have to give it a try.

Also is the sound problem people on here are posting is it a slight low ringing, that is hard to hear if you are walking or something. Mine starts doing this and it takes me a while until I know it is my phone ringing. The only thing I can do to stop it is reboot. I have never tried calling someone.

Is this the sound problem people are having or is mine a new one.

I installed PG's mod after all of the kmod drama. I liked the graphical content but the font and smoothness of PG's was not there. PG's runs a lot better on mine.
 
just my 2 cents... i was having the swype problem last week but I moved swype to internal memory rather than sd and it fixed my problem... everytime i connected my phone to my computer it would reset my defaults (launcher pro, handcent, and swype) because they were running on the sd so i figured if i moved those apps to internal then it would fix the problem...and it did.....

I'm no expert but it worked for me.

I'm also having that low ringtone problem... only way to hear it is to have my sound almost full blast. anything below about 75% is barely audible... any suggestions??


btw I'm loving cm7...been on it since the 0521 build...many thanks all who have developed, modified, and provided help. I don't say much on the boards but I read read read.... props to isaac, PG, nuttmeg, and all others!! YOU'RE FUKKIN AWESOME!!!
 
Alright, well I had to wipe all data back to factory, and reformat my sd card. Reflashed to build 0521, which I have ran beautifully since day one, oc 710, but now my phone will freeze up and reboot about two or three times a day, even when I recieve a call, I could not answer because it was frozen. After reboot everything is great again. Anyone with ideas, I would love to hear from you. Thank you
 
quick question.... after flashing pg's 0624 yesterday things have been running smooth... but when i ran a2sd check i notice that its not zipalignd... should i run the command or not worry about it?? what are the benefits or better yet, what does the zipalign do? i only ask because I remember having to do that for icarus....

Also whenever i try to do a nandroid backup it always skips the sd-ext (won't mount... says might not be supported or something to that effect)... i want to upgrade to a bigger sd card but don't want to lose the info in my sd-ext... what can i do??

I think a few days ago i may have added a 256 MB partition by mistake but i'm not sure. TIBU says my sd has 1.43gb and a2sd has 479mb... i think some space is missing (the 256mb partition).... how can i fix??

also i believe the 8gb sd card i bought is sdhc... will that matter??

One more thing...(guess not such a quick question anymore)...before i went to 0624 my a2sd partition had a little over 300 mb free (with all my apps and the dalvik cache as well) but now there is only 170mb free and i haven't added anything different...any suggestions as to why??
 
O LOL im a fail then XD well yeah its was good now its doing it again :( i guess ill live do u guess now when the will have a stable one cause i got mine of clockwork mod and its DEFENTILY not stable and has LOTS AND LOTS of bugs
 
yea gets pretty bad at times, ill get 2 or 3 back to back in the night time, then ill wake up and it will have sent them again . lol hard to keep track of whats new and old

As to your swype keyboard issue....i am on pg's most recent build and am running swype beta....i was having the same issue but a new beta version came out and i no longer have that issue..:o)
 
Hello everyone,

Just flashed my Huawei Ascend with CM7 2.3.4 and I'm lovin' it. Everything works great, had some forceclose issues with the market for about the first couple hours buy now it works flawless.

The only issue I have is with syncing my contacts from my Cricket backup, since that stock app is gone, can anyone shine some light on this issue for me.
