Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Does anyone know how to make the status bar brightness work on cm7? I have it enabled under interface tweaks but when I slide my finger across it nothing happens. Is this not working for the ascend or am I missing a step? I would really appreciate your help!

yes your sd card needs to be partition so the dta2sd will work, make sure you have a class 4 sd card if you planning on moving the dalvik. ;)

Hi, thanks for reply. Now can I just ask before the partition do I need to format my card?
Also, will dta2sd be automatic or do I need to do something else? When I first flashed I was just so happy I did it that i didn't find out about all of this I just start moving user apps to the SD. Should I move them all back before I partition card. I'm such a Noob :p

Thanks Nuttmeg, you have been very helpful to me as well as many other noobs from what I have seen here in the forum, very cool. Your posts are very informative and have totally helped me pimp my phone.:p lol! Seriously, i really appreciate all your advice. You' re one the most knowledgeable members (hence the guide title). I'm really glad to be a part of this community, I've learned so much and I'm still learning more everyday:D

It doesn't work very well on my phone either,only once,& all it did was dim it all the way down & would not increase brightness.
Probably another one of the infamous ASCEND ANOMALIES due to varying hardware from phone to phone.

It's not that great on my OV either. I think the piece of code needs some TLC to work better. :)

another reason for my switching back to stock is that I really like the stock apps, launcher, mms, call, and contacts and I cant find a way to install them.

Of course, length of battery life is dependent on so many different things. I use my phone for everything at work: Texting, calling, GPS.. all of those things kill batteries. Plus, having your CPU overclocked through CM7 drains life too.

most any that you find will work, you just might need to edit the desc.txt in the bootanimation.zip to 320 480. I do this inside of winrar w/o extracting it.

What size partition is needed for this to work right? Also, I'm thinking maybe I should move the apps back from SD to internal first since partitioning erases the SD card. What do u think? I read on anther site that it may be better to wipe everything first then partition the SD then reflash the rom. Is that really necessary? Sorry for all the questions I am still feeling a bit confused:o
 
Thanks for the new build.. In no ways am i complaing about something new to flash but i finally broke down and went to 0624 yesterday :D Just sayin thanks.. will check it out soon..

Thanks, and on this build yes, just download and flash the 748 Kernel for this and the 0618 build.

That rocks! I went to the Wiki and I dont see any links to download the kernel. I see 2 links one says its the isaacj87's original and the other is 748Mhz oc kernel for 0521 - 0624 builds. Then it says Note: Dont not use the overclocked kernels on any builds after 06242011!!! :confused: What to do?

the one for 0521 - 0624 will work on the new build ;) long as your Ascend can handle it ;)

When I wrote that I intended on my next build being RC1 which will be going up here in a lil while :D

i did 512 and 32 for swap.

Awesome bro! My Ascend runs the 710 flawlessly I have faith in it! :D Ive been messing with it all morning Do you have any idea why I can install CM6 and the GPS works great gets a good lock but for some reason any CM7 build i try it wont lock? Should I just wait to check out the RC1?
