Well I'm trying to do all of what you said here since it seems as tho i did skip a very valuable step in the process....but now i'm stuck with the black and red huawei screen and i can't get my phone to boot into recovery mode...it just stays on that screen. Think i'm just going to figure out a way to get back to the 2.1....then update to froyo...and then leave it alone at that...because this is for a lack of a better phrase...completely and mentally ******ed to go through just to have a phone. I've been at this for 4 days and i'm no where close to where the hell i was after i updated it from 2.1 to 2.2....screw it...I don't see the need/reason to continue with this...Just there has to be a set tutorial...let people know..."this is how you do it" and put it all out there..don't skip steps...make sure everyones using the same build, rom, programs, etc etc,...because i don't know weather the hell to use amon ra or rom manager or what...this shit did nothing but waste time and cause confusion. Complete waste. Thanks for the advice and your time tho...But i wouldn't recommend anyone trying to bother doing anything to these otherwise piece of shit low end android phones....I would just wait for the Glory and leave it stock. Eff it.
I had a heck of a time at first, too. Now I realize most of my boot lockups were due to having the faster overclocked CM7 versions on my lazy droid. I've flashed a ton of times now, and I usually do it using tokenpoke's guide. Try it just like he says, but use BobZ's 672 MHz(lazy Ascend's) version with the gapps that are also on that page (scroll down, you'll see them in the Download Links section.)
I make sure to backup all my stuff with Titanium Backup first. I have issues trying to restore system data, but the batch restore for apps saves a ton of time.
About half the time, if I do get locked-up trying a higher-overclocked build, I can still get it to run by letting it sit on the boot screen a few minutes, then holding the power button once or twice for a couple seconds. Sometimes it reboots and works, sometimes it doesn't. But the lazy Ascend build SHOULD work for anyone. I have one of the worst ones, and I can still do it.
Just have patience. Once you figure out what you're doing, it gets easier fast. It's not a bad phone. It's low end, but it works great for what it is.
