Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Thank you again, everyone on here has been very helpful, I appreciate everything.

There are some things lookout does (help find a lost phone) that you can get from smaller less batter draining apps. "Where's my Droid", works well if you misplace your phone, you just text your phone (with another phone of course) and it will override your sound settings and make it alert you to it's location. Nice little app if you have a tendency to misplace it.

I am currently running Icarus, but would love to try CM7, I am using CWM 2.x.x. I guess i would need to install CWM 3.0.0.5 before I can install CM7. Now, if, for ever reason, I need to or want to go back to Icarus, can I use CWM 3.0.0.5 to flash back? I know I can't use a backup from 2.x.x, so this would be a fresh flash, if possible.

Thanks,

Two issues I'm running into:
1. SD card seems to unmount itself occasionally. Went to take a pic and said SD card not found.
2. Can't download Google Music from the Market. Says it's not compatible with this device.

Cricket Huawei Ascend M860
Used CWM 3.0.2.8 and CM7 05042011

New build is coming today. 0512 is already available on ROM Manager.

05132011 will be available on ROM Manager and Wiki later today. I've removed OC'ing up to 748. It's now back to 710 for all users. This should clear up problems with users not being able to run builds 0509 or later.

Awww, I was looking forward to OC'ing higher than 710. Oh well. As long as it works. Thanks for the help Isaac.

It uses the build fingerprint for a Nexus One, but still is registered through its MEID and product model as a Huawei Ascend. The Huawei Ascend doesn't have a true 2.2 ROM so that's why Google rejects it. You can however find the Google Music apk on XDA and it installs and runs fine.

If you want to keep a backup of Icarus, it's possible with 3.0.0.5, just download and use ROM Manager to install CWM3, reboot into it and make a backup. Then, reboot back into Icarus and run the installation for CM7. That way you'll have a backup just in case you don't want CM7.

Running 0509 till 0513.. Noticed today that pressing the trackball awakes it from sleep mode even with it deselected in cm settings,input.. Not sure if its fixed in the new build or just bad flash. Not a biggie regardless.

Edit: From what I gathered from recent posts, another release is due today? or soon without the 749 kernel? Only asking cause i dont want to flash 0512 to turn around another one :) Mind is fried after today..

Btw, thanks for all the great work Isaac

Thank you Issac. I am petty happy with Icarus. I have tried everything else, but cama back to it since it is very stable. However, I see that cm7 is much faster and more configurable. I will eventually migrate to cm7.
Thanks for all the good work here. It's greatly appreciated it.

Thanks man. I appreciate the support. :)

Also, I have some really awesome news. CM7-Ascend is now in ROM Manager! You can simply go into ROM Manager, grab the latest build, latest gapps and simply flash. Also, if new builds come, you can simply grab those as well and stay up-to-date!

Also, I'll upload MetrOFF to ROM Manager so that you can simply flash it from ROM Manager as well! Pretty freaking sweet if you ask me.

I've stopped building CWM versions and I no longer support CWM 3.0.2.8. I'm asking all users to use the official CWM 3.0.0.5 found in ROM Manager. This isn't a big deal as ROM Manager will force you to install CWM 3.0.0.5 before you can do anything else within it.

A new build 05122011 is already available with a [confirmed] USB mounting fix.

Happy Ascending.

Just one quick question kind sir. Will the old build still remain on the wiki? I really like the 05092011 build it works freat on my phone, and I also enjoy the overclock at 748.

Ps.
You, playful, nuttmeg, september, and many other people are the main reason I am keeping my ascend as a second phone. You guys ROCK!!!! This whole forum ROCKS!!!! Everyone is so helpful and I have learned a wealth of knowledge just from these forums. soooooo a big THANK YOU to everyone for all their input and helping in detecting and solving issues!!!!!!

The new build is still coming. There some important news going forward!

Since not every Ascend user can run the 748 MHz kernel (some can't even get it to boot), all builds after 05122011 will be clocked back to 710 MHz.

However, I've made a flashable zip that will be available on the Wiki and ROM Manager for users who can run 748 MHz. Simply download and flash the zip and you'll have your 748 MHz sweetness back again. :)

Here's to the future.

I just installed your latest rom and I keep getting lost calls? Any suggestions? the only number it will dial is my voice mail. I hope this isn't a stupid question. I just want to enjoy this rom to its fullest. Everything is working GREAT! Except for calling........ please please help. I did a little troubleshooting it seems that the problem lies with the facebook sync. I am going to reinstall facebook and see what happens. There there is any at all you can think of or can't think of just let me know. By the way I love your work.

Is the latest build: 05122011 available for download yet? The download link is for: Build (05092011): CM7-Ascend-05092011-signed.zip
