Do i need a custom rom to flash a kernal or can they be used with the stock rom? Also does anyone recommend rom manager/kernal manager?
I would not recomed rom manager or kernel manager.

or just download them manually from xda, put them in a folder on the root of your sd card (which you should name as something that puts it at the top or bottom of your folder list, i.e. a-kernels or z-kernels, just makes it easier to navigate there) and flash away.... the easy way out (kernel manager) isnt a good learning tool, and is more problematic than helpful in most cases. If youre looking for the easier method, yeah, kernel manager will work, but id suggest staying away from it
sidenote: tiamat kernels wipe the caches for you when you install them![]()

but using KM as a download site, I would recommend
then flash manuallyIf you would have read my post, I suggested downloading the kernels from KM. Then as you suggested also, flashing the kernel manually.
Some individuals may find it confusing reading through XDA for all the roms, root methods, kernels.......... and not find what they are looking for.
I feel Shinzul has put out an application that brings all the best kernels in one spot and it's easy to navigate between an AOSP kernel and a Sense kernel.
And again I agree with you, do not use the application to flash the kernel as it is still pretty buggybut using KM as a download site, I would recommend
then flash manually
I tried to use it but the lite version cant be sorted and is kind of poorly organized, not that its more difficult than combing xda for updates on the kernels i use but im usually on xda anyhow. it has never successfully flashed a kernel for me either but I have downloaded a few...basically, its not useful for me, thats not to take anything away from shinzul, just not for me
Agreed, it's not a useful tool for me either but I would still recommend the app for download purposes only

True, for those of us that dont comb xda at least 4 times a day![]()
Why so few??
