I knew it wouldn't be long for someone to begin working on an ICS ROM for this phone. And, I'm betting there will be several others working on ICS ROMs. Yay for open source!

I have a question, which of the roms that are available for download is the fastest, easiest on battery, AND (but doesn't matter) have built in screen shot? Thanks. I get tired having to manually flash all the time to test stuff out, lol. CM7 is doing well but the keyboard that comes with the ROM is moving slower than the HTC one.

well for performance and battery life aosp roms are the best. sense is much bigger and slower then aosp roms. also kernels are what really dictate battery life. some roms are optimized to be faster and may have a small part in battery life, but the kernel is where it is at along with setcpu.

try the xplod rom out. it is pretty sweet. the launcher is interesting and it is aosp as well. mik3d treated me pretty well, but the battery life was no where close to my cm7/tiamat kernel combo.

In your opinion (or from experience), what is the best Sense 3.0 rom and kernal combination? I love Sense and I have come to the understand that it is a little slower and costs more battery to run the bulkiness, lol. I didn't even realize how easy it was to flash kernels until today, lol.

mik3d. it was my daily driver when it was only a beta. it is now a final release and it is awesome as all of mik's roms are. he is my favorite dev. i always try his roms when they come out. i just wish that he will start to dev the 3vo in addition to the og evo.

I'm definitely about to be a bitter and install this rom, lol. Any specific kernel or just stock kernel? Also that's the Mik3D-RC1 correct?

Just installed, this thing is moving really fast!!! Thanks. I didn't install the kernel yet because I don't know which one to install of the aggressive. They have nightly and 2 others.

I'm rocking the mikg 2.60 right now with chop suey 9.2.6 & totally loving it. I have to say tho, that the synergy + godmode made my phone ridiculous. Chop suey makes a specific kernel for it, but with the cooked in one I was getting battery stats measuring past 1 day 2hrs. Also, I know it doesn't mean much, but with whatever overclocking the baked in kernel allowed (can't remember what it was, just that it was limited) my quadrant scores were 1800's & low 1900's. Sometimes I wonder why I don't just go back & stay on it!

I should probably put it out there though, that this is a HUGE rom. It only left me with about 9 megs of system rom. Once I cleaned it up a bit it freed up maybe 40 megs, but this was just my personal neurosis. The size had no real effect on performance.

When flashing from a ROM with no 4G to ROM with 4G, can you flash your WiMax backup when you first flash the rom? I have a backup of ONLY my WiMax keys. I'm coming from MIUI to CM7. Can I just make a nan, flash CM7, flash Gapps and flash my WiMax then reboot?

If this is not what I need to do, please let me know...

those are rom specific. if you are not on synergy or synergy godmode then use the universal kernel.

I installed the Freedom Aggressive Universal kernel and I keep seeing SetCPU all over the kernel guides. I am obviously a noob but I have no idea how to set that thing up to work best for me, lol.

Do you have the setCPU app installed? It's on the market, costs a couple bucks, I think. There are free ones, too, like antutu. Get it, install it & fiddle with the cpu & scaling functions til you find what you like. If your kernel supports it, I like the smartass governor but interactive x seems to help batt life without needing to set up profiles which I've found to actually drain batt life. Good luck! Oh & totally i'd totally avoid setting cpu on boot til you get a feel for what your phone can support without crashing.

here is a great guide on setcpu:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/210253-setcpu-guide.html

basically the main screen is where you over and underclock your phone. make sure that you have set on boot unchecked when you overclock. if you overclock your phone too high it might become unstable and re-boot. and if you have the set on boot then you most likely will get an endless bootloop. so uncheck it until you know your phone will be stable then you can check it.

also on the main screen you can set governors which tells the cpu how fast or slow to get to the speed that you set on the main screen. some of the governors will have a screen off profile that can help save battery life. interactive x and smartass governors have screen off profiles. if you use ondemand then i would set a screen off profile. do not have too many profiles as they are counter productive. the program will constantly be up and running checking for the parameters set and never really sleeping like it should.

hope that helps.

Ok thank you. I actually have everything underclocked. I don't really need speed on my phone and the ROM I have (Mik3D) is still responding pretty fast. I guess the kernel (Freedom Aggressive) is still adjusting to the phone because battery is 'eh' compared to CM7 with the stock ROM lol.

if anything then try the smartass governor or the interactive x governor. they both have screen off profile. or you can keep the default ondemand governor and set up a screen off profile.
