Root [ROOT] One-click root for LG Connect 4G :: 3/3/2012

Success. Guess letting the full moon pass last night cleared up something in the gravitational aeon-flux fields around my house.....yeah, that must've been it!
thx again..>!

I wouldn't risk it until someone compares mounts n partition sizes. ;)

Ok, since I'm not exactly sure how to do all that I'll just be patient. :)

I'm glad to see you over on this side as well. You did some pretty slick work on the Ascend (my 1st Android) and helped me to understand Roms/CWM (ya know, all the fun stuff), are you working on anything for the Connect?

Atm i am colab'ing with shabby on the cwm for it.

Throwing this out there again, has anybody successfully done this with OSX?
OSX? Are you serious? lol

i got as far as the rebooting and i didnt know what icon to push in order to root (or take off) some items that i dont need on my lg connect. plus i somehow took off my android marketplace on my phone and im tryin to get it back. i thought that by rooting might help but i ended up getting stuck.

Quick question, can I uninstall the default MetroPCS applications in my LG Connect just with using ES File Explorer or do I still need to use the "One-click root" included at the beginning of this post to do that?

I could also rephrase the question as this: Is ES File Explorer some sort of "universal rooter" with which I can uninstall those pesky MetroPCS apps in my LG Connect, or do I need to use this "One-click root for LG Connect" fist"?

Thanks in advance to y'all for the help.

to be able to use ES File Explorer to remove the bloat you need to be rooted, and on top of being rooted have the following checked

Bought a used Windows machine. :p Phone just finished rebooting, going to load Ti backup and freeze some apps. Maybe change my boot animation, too.
Next up, ROM's! Thanks everybody who made this happen!

Update: Interestingly enough my phone would not transfer data on my wifi initially, I had to shut the wifi off and back on again like when I initially purchased it. Just throwing this out there for those of you who are keeping track of these things. LG Connect 4G.

No....I've got serious problems......no WiFi even after wiping it out and resetting the phone....now the screen is black....I've had this for about 4-5 hours. every tine i wipe to factory I have a new problem. but this screen thing.....this wwont go away. i sure hope its just this particular phone.

You wiped out a system app. This is a FACT.

I was wondering if anyone outbe so kind as to provide me a list of apps I can remove..? Ive rooted the phone.not bad for an old woman, but I am worried about removing the wrong ones......just got a 2nd phone. DUMA**, I know. But here I am.......lol.

And for those of you who keep asking the same questions, just go to the beginning of the blog and READ it ALL. IT WORKS, 100%, ZERO problems. Period. And believe me..if I can root it, then you guys certainly can...

I was alive when the dead sea was still sick.

This phone has tons of memory, so there is no reason to remove bloat for space reasons. So, I suggest using Titanium to "freeze" them. They will no longer be active and you have an easy way to fix things if you mess up. As for one to never remove, Metro web. It is required to be there for the Market to work. There are other very important ones, but this one is one where many make mistakes thinking the "Metro" name makes it bloat.

If it has metro on it is bloat. Metro web n the metro one for ota updates are the only that need left alone unless one is fairly savvy. Fortunately metro web doesn't work no worse than any other browser.

What a lot of people do not realize is that the Metro web browser is actually the Android browser with a different name. Behind the scenes it is stock Android and that is why the Market dies when you remove it. It happened so often with Optimus M users that it was almost laughable. I guess nobody reads the warnings here before going to delete things that they know nothing about.

Which apps should I freeze? I like the phone, hate the battery life

Removing apps is not going to do much for battery like. Download Juice Defender and even the default settings will improve battery life a lot. Then check to see if you are having the keyboard battery draining issue many of us are having. If any of the keyboards are using more than say about 5-10% of the battery, then you might want to download the Gingerbread keyboard off the market. It is not my favorite, but until they figure out what the problem is, it will do.

True, n it can be fixed not to say metro web lol

Last night, my battery dropped to 71% from a full charge. I received 1 sms and 1 mms. That was about 10 hours of standby. My old freeform would have to be charged 1 or 2 times a week. I guess I can kiss that good-bye :(

I have Juice Defender loaded with defaults.

Right now I have

Cell Standby 50%
Phone Idle 49%
Display 2%

Must be the new math ;-)
