Root [ROOT] One-click root for LG Connect 4G :: 3/3/2012

Last night, my battery dropped to 71% from a full charge. I received 1 sms and 1 mms. That was about 10 hours of standby. My old freeform would have to be charged 1 or 2 times a week. I guess I can kiss that good-bye :(

I have Juice Defender loaded with defaults.

Right now I have

Cell Standby 50%
Phone Idle 49%
Display 2%

Must be the new math ;-)

Yeah, no smartphone is going to last as long as a feature phone. Ten hours losing 29% is not bad. I charge every night so that I start the day with 100%. If I use it a lot during the day I might have to charge mid day. With juice defender, this Connect is doing better than my Optimus M ever did.

Removing apps is not going to do much for battery like. Download Juice Defender and even the default settings will improve battery life a lot. Then check to see if you are having the keyboard battery draining issue many of us are having. If any of the keyboards are using more than say about 5-10% of the battery, then you might want to download the Gingerbread keyboard off the market. It is not my favorite, but until they figure out what the problem is, it will do.

Freezing apps may not do much for battery life but I SWEAR this thing charges twice as fast now.

I'm trying to root my phone now, I installed the drivers for the phone, I have it set on internet connection and debugging mode is on (little android bug is in taskbar), but when I go to run the program it just stops after "daemon started successfully." I let it sit for a good hour just for good measure, but it's not doing anything. Any ideas on what's going wrong here? This is my first time rooting a phone, sorry for being such a n00b. ( ._.)

while you have the phone plugged deselect and select debugging again

if not try plugging the phone in with debugging on and installing the driver then and then running the root

Worked like a charm!! Thank you SO much! Can't wait to fix this phone up to MY specs now that it's rooted.

Really???

My Optimus M with a custom ROM from here would go 2 days with light use and no fancy juicedefender etc etc. Wifi always on.

This phone doesn't last half as long.

One of the biggest improvements for me has been the signal. My M usually had 80-90% time with no signal inside my building at work. The Connect is averaging around 10% with no signal.

I been noticing lately if u root a phone that's 4g or put a custom rom on it.the 4g start acting up.it would either turn off the 4g or put it to 3g

This. The M's a little shitbox, this is a phone on par with the majors. tl;dr get over it. Battery life will improve, you can't expect the best out of stock everything. Be patient - and delete some bloatware.

It just gets better...lol...gotta love it.

no, as this isnt an official ACS stuff, this is something i do on the side with k0nane. i happen to be an ACS member but this phone is under jurisdiction of the OUD squad :P

Lol....whats cooking?

nothing?

youve got root and cwm :P myself and k0nane dont work on roms for devices we dont have, we have done it in the past and crap just doesnt work out so well, testing becomes a hassle as does trying to fix bugs.

your best bet is have someone who has teh device start whippin out stuff

Donations for devices for devs?

Could anyone provide me a list of apps that are safe to remove? Please? I am nearly out of room with all the apps I NEED..and I have a 32 mb SD card already.

I will say this, I know for SURE that LG Home, is NOT an app that should be removed. haha........I learned the hard way and had to "warranty" the phone. In fact, I was the FIRST warranty replacement for the connect. (cheshire cat grin).

I have to ask how you managed to run out of space. I have everything I want on mine with nothing even moved to the card and still have over half my memory. Are you using a lot of really large games or something? You can use Titanium to force apps to the card that normally do not allow it. That helped me out a lot back on my Optimus.
