Thanks for the vote of confidence, just afraid of bricking my phone, do you suggest unrevoked, revolutionary or ????

I just started the process

So whats the problem? What files are you trying to copy over? Do you have S-Off?

Do you have S-Off? If so, you could try whatever root method you used again (probably revolutionary) or just put the recovery PC36IMG.zip file in the root of your card.

The problem is that when I plug my phone in..(set to USB debug and charge mode), the next step says to transfer that SU*** file to the phone and I can not see my phone as a dir in the windos file explorer to do it.

I do not have root.

does the computer recognize your phone at all? if not then reinstall the drivers and see if that works.

1 recognizes it but when i click it says"please insert disk into removable disk drive". The other (win7). does not recognize it and I resintalled the HTC drivers..

ugggghhhhh

can you use a wired tether app and run revolutionary?

Okay that was a great idea, but here's what happens. When using wireless tether the usb drive is busy so rev cant read my device. So i let it read my device, when the download recover question comes up I eneable usb tether and download. Then it says done... Rebooting to fastboot. And again it cant find the device since the drive is busy. So i tried unabling usb tether again. I tried pretty much everything after that and it didn't work. So the usb tether method wont work. Good idea though. I even tried re running rev after it downloaded but every time you run it it has to download clockwork again.

hmm that happened to me and i just had to reinstall drivers =/ are you using the usb cord the phone came with?

someone posted the file for Clockwork mod and Amon Ra PC36IMG. put it on the root of your phone and when you go into hboot it should ask if you want to install an update.

yes..I have no other cord that would fit the phone..this sucks. i cant even start.

Now what is super lame is that on this same computer i grabbed all my vids and pics off the stupid phone in disc mode like 4 days ago.

I have to be in USB debug mode and charge only to drop files in it? It doesnt make sense!

Okay, I'm gonna re-read over Ocn's post and get back with you. I think you just have to do the file whenever. I mean, you need a custom recovery to flash the Superuser.zip file anyway....

----
Okay, so before you start you should put the Superuser file on your SD card (root), but you have custom recovery in the actual root method process... so you should be able to do it after you get the custom recovery by following the Revolutionary process.

Hope that helps.

Haven't done anything yet, just been reading and trying to figure everything out.

I don't know how to put the file on the root. I use astro but i cant mess with the system cause im not rooted. I also dont know how to get into hboot or back into recovery or any of yhat.

It's good to be sure of what you're doing (before I rooted, I read the dummy guide +10 times and watched a video of someone rooting several times.

Do you have the drivers installed? What about all the files you'll need. (Revolutionary, Su file... etc. ?)

Ok I will give it a shot.

the root just means top. when you plug your phone into the computer you open the root. just put the file there. (not in any folder)
also to get to hboot power off your phone and then hold power + volume down.

Okay, try it from your computer in USB mode. It'll be something like this (assuming windows)
G:\ <- this is the root

Hboot: Power off. Vol Down + power on (maybe five seconds with both) Phone turns on with a little android skating around acting a fool.

Without root, you don't need to worry much about recovery yet, that's the goal. Root gets S-Off, then you can put on a custom recovery.

Whenever I try to get in hboot I've done both:
Holding power then volume forever.
And pressing and holding them simultaneously forever. Nothing happens untill i release then it just turns on. I can't get in hboot.

go into settings on phone and turn of fastboot i dont have my phone with me atm and i dont recall the exact path maybe someone else does =/

kk got my phone on my phone its settings power.. but it might be just for the rom i have loaded =/

Hmm.. Check your settings in GB. There might be (not sure if it's root only) an option that says something like "fastboot". This might be whats doing it.

When the power is off, you should press vol down, then hold vol down and power together. It should take no more than eight seconds to start up.

Ok guys I have root. It is currently saying that it is backing up data. how long does this usually take? It has been about 4 minutes

I have renamed the amon ra file and will transfer that to the phone next.

So do not switch your phone to charge only to put files on it..that is the lesson here..use it as a disk, then install the revolutionary with the phone unplugged, switch it to charge only/degub and plug it in. Root will happen.

Help! I'm stuck!

So Im trying to flash the superuser zip file and everytime I select it, I get an error as follows"

E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Then it takes me back to:
reboot system now
apply update from sd card
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

What am I doing wrong?

Also, when do I install amon ra 2.3? I'm confused???

Well, you can install amon ra whenever. You just put the PC36IMG.zip file on the root (top level) of your sd card and boot with vol down and power.

Hmm.. It sounds like the file isn't signed, but that file should be signed. Try either A) download file again and try again, or B) look for an option to turn off verify/signed/authorized something...not sure the exact title in clockwork.
