I am in a (civil and gentlemanly) argument with Sprint trying to get out of my contract as my reception and data speeds have tanked. But since I can't get out right now, I was looking for a new toy to hold me over. So I was looking for a used 3vo -- but after reading ENDLESS forums (across all forums, including AF, XDA, AC, etc) and speaking to tons of people, I found that the Evo3D has much worse radios than the OG Evo (among many other complaints). With my signal so bad already, I couldn't have that, so I started looking at other phones. And the one phone where owners were highly satisfied, almost all of them, was the photon.
It is apparently just rock-solid in dependability and performance even when stock, and it's radios (phone, 3G, 4G, GPS) blow every other Sprint phone out of the water. (The Epic Touch has really high satisfaction too, but it's more like "I'm ok with the mediocre data signal and crappy GPS for the amazing processor speed and wonderful screen" -- and if I wasn't in such a bad signal area, maybe I could deal with that).
So I got a like-new Photon off of Craigslist to hold me over until either (a) I jump ship to Verizon, or (b) Sprint's network improves enough that I stick around and get the variant of the HTC One X they hopefully will get. And since the Evo still has so much more hype than the Photon, I'm actually making a profit after I sell the Evo and buy the Photon.
I'm also hoping that the lack of development for the Photon, depriving me of my flashing addiction, will allow me to spend more time doing other things with my time ... but I'll probably just mess with every launcher on the market for awhile, until the Photon's CM9 is stable.
