I have a GT-I9100M. I want to root and unlock it. Will this method of rooting worked fine then unlocking it afterwards with "Galaxy S Unlock" app?
I see from your post in the How To Root [...] The Bell S2 thread that you've succeeded.

Still looking for updated bloatware removal list,
The bloatware removal list is for unbranded phones. Obviously, it cannot take into account all the different branded firmware add-ons from the different carriers and models, worldwide. I'm afraid it's Googling time.
also my battery usage has gotten worse, have installed some battery apps but still sucking any tips?

After trying for hours and getting this same message no matter what usb port/odin version I use, Odin CONTINUES to report this message:
ARGH. I have a i9100M and it came with this firmware:
3.0.31-900488se.infra@sep-127 #3 SMP Preempt Mon Jan 28 23:45:31 KST 2013
I've tried flashing the Siyah kernel Siyah-s2-v6.0b5 as suggested, but Odin always gives the same message. I've used this same cable to image other phones in the past so I'm sure the cable's fine.
Any ideas?

Hi ironass,
Yes, I read through that post but it describes phones that aren't recognized by Kies/ADB/Win7 and my phone does get recognized without issue. Odin recognizes it too (first line of message is 'Added' and the COM light goes blue).
My issue is that Odin hangs at the zImage stage and never completes. I have to force power-down the phone and unplug it (after 15 minutes of waiting).
No worries
I got it rooted by flashing one of Philz' Super kernels from external sd.
Now I can't figure out how to unlock it... Lots of paid methods but no freebies that I can see...
