Question, popping in a DVD is there any way to tell what sort of encryption it has? I just downloaded HandBrake and put Taken in and it seemed to start fine (I hope I did all the settings right...) and I've had no error messages or anything.
You tell us. If it went just fine you are good to go. If it didnt rip you need an encryption breaker. Once you have an encryption breaker, like AnyDVD for instance, it will tell you what is has. I dont know that Handbrake itself tells you, if it does not convert thats actually the telltale

@Kabob: Sorry, not ignoring you or anything, just dunno the answer. Been meaning to rip some movies myself, though. Would love to rip everything and have it on a server, but that's a bit much right now lol.

No problem!

Alright, so it burned but good grief the video was messed up. Artifacts/crazy colors all over the screen, it was nuts. Any idea?

Hmmm every DVD I ever ripped from handbrake was very nice looking. What are your computer specs? I know in theory it should not happen if you meet the minimum specs but if you have a 5-6 year old computer and/or DVD drive sometimes that could give an issue

just randomly decided to give adw a whirl again today, and wow :) gotta say theres a ton of improvements since I last used it 2 months or so ago.

Id say just off a few hours of tinkering around its kinda neck and neck for me with lpp. As a launcher id say its a dead heat, but the lpp bookmarks and calendar do it for me.

I like a lot of the new themes out there for adw, and minus the dock customizations from lpp pretty fantastic.

Until we get froyo i think ill keep both.

It's my wife's laptop, dual core (2.16 GHz I believe), 2GB DDR2, and Windows Vista.

Since getting rid of TW I've seen significant speed ups in certain areas. Would you have the same issue running LP and ADW? Or can you have both installed at the same time without having one run over the other?

i havent noticed a difference with both installed. But i do remove all widgets from one when using the other so its not like adw is running with lpp and calendars/widgets on both. I think I may remove touchwiz as well and see if I get the speed increase you are. Something new to try anyway :cool:

Oh yeah buddy you dont want 3 on there. Give TW the boot. There really is a difference in some areas. Others its the same. No down side though

dang saps, hopefully a new kernel or two will drop soon to cure you right up :)
I know I need to OC/UV myself. Kids were sick this weekend, son even missed school Monday to rest and now sure as sugar they are both better based on the old transfer illness to Dad trick. Sore throat I can barely shallow or speak, which some people appreciate :rolleyes:. Ugh I'll throw some hot tea and OTC meds at this. Fingers Crossed. Given my history tomorrow Im either all better or sick as a dog

we ll all hope for better :)

Went to the gym to try and "work it out" big mistake I was weaker than shizzle and thats dangerous for me since I dont really lift light weights either. God I hope I wake you feeling better cause right now Im :(

Well Im not worse; not precisely all better either. Oh well.

Im sure there might be a thread on this already in the SF secton but Im just wondering what keyboard everyone is using these days?

Since I got the SF I only used Swype until Sunday when repeated errors and lack of accuracy persuaded me to give SKP and Swiftkey a DL. I keep going back and forth between the two now. I do like the prediction of swiftkey but the key spacing on SKP is a real treat. I suppose I will just keep using one until I get the hang of it.

I've been working tons of hours the past few days, should be over now. Hope you're feeling better saps! Any more ideas on my HandBrake issues?

I'm using Swype. I tried the Android keyboard (I suck with it), tried Swiftkey (it was so-so), haven't heard of SKP though.

SKP Smart Keyboard Pro. Its the widest of all keyboards I've tried and if you wanna hit every key its probably the best choice. I used it for a day and was really getting used to it then I hear about the predictions with SwiftKey and really liked that since I was often typing one or two keys and then the whole word was there so it was efficient, sometimes. In the end I probably need to pick one of the two and just settle or go back to Swype

i alternate depending on what im doing...i swype to text, dxmt keyboard when on forums or something.

on my inc (when im using it) i go with slideit. i dont use it on my fascinate because i dont how the key lines up on the bigger keyboard. but its a swype-imitator that you can switch the "swipe" off of and just use it as a qwerty.

I personally use Swype, don't think I could stand pressing every letter again - plus I suck at two-thumbed typing.

In other news, another reason I love android, taken from this page in the official Google docs for Android coding:
if (mAM.isUserAMonkey()) {
// Don't trust monkeys to do the right thing!
AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(Controller.this);
builder.setMessage("You can't reset my password because you are a monkey!");
builder.setPositiveButton("I admit defeat", null);
builder.show();
return;
}

I tried Swift Key in the Verizon store and just couldn't get into it. I'm sure that with practice I'd be fast with it but Swype is working well enough as-is so I'll probably stick with what I've got.

i gave swiftkey a real quick try once and wasnt that impressed.

What I notice with Swiftkey is that I keep waiting for the predictor to throw my word up and when it doesnt I get side tracked. Now when it does its great mega fast. I had it predict an entire 8 words sentence this morning in a text, maybe I repeat myself a lot and am that predictable but it was awesome. 8 clicks for 8 words which were about 40 letters. However, as aforementioned, now Im almost just waiting for it to kick in rather than typing away myself

Ahh SwiftKey, next thing you know you'll be demanding that it predicts your entire text message with no input from you.

Lazy saps, that's what we'll call you :p
