I've never had experience with the SRT-4, but to see if the price is right check Kelly Blue Book's website. That would definitely have decent gas mileage, and it doesn't have a lot of miles on it. What about an older Subaru Impreza WRX? Subaru's are great cars (I currently have a Forester S) and from what I've heard about the WRX's, they sound like they would be right up your alley. You could probably find an older one for around that price, however the mileage on it will most likely be a little higher than the SRT. But the gas mileage would probably be comparable.

My wife has an '02 WRX and we love it. Gas mileage isn't great(17-24 maybe?), but it's got lots of pep.

I saw one of these about a month ago when I was in Baltimore and wondered what it was. It looked like an awesome restaurant from the outside.

It was amazing. Probably the best (and, honeslty, most expensive) meal we've ever had. The wife's wine and martinis didn't help the price, but we haven't had a splurge meal in ages!

Thanks for the wallpapers link Kaessa, some of those are really nice :)

Oh yeah I would kill for a wrx over the srt4(I'm a huge rally man) but my main reason for getting this new car is for the gas mileage and 17 unfortunately just wont cut it. The wrx and ralliart lancer are pretty much the next best thing to the evolution or sti, but I figured the srt4 is a perfect mix for me. Some zippyness with the turbo mixed with the 25-30mpg plus something I can learn some tuning elements equals the perfect car for me. Or atleast that's how I'm seeing it. Rich now I need to figure out money though. My Ford is worth maybe 3k if I'm lucky and I've only had my job for 3 or so months so a loan might be out of the question. I'm still a little unsure at this point. Needless to say though...I'm pretty stoked. This car actually seems to be in the realm of possibility for me.

Wow...lonnnngggg night.

OK so I'm trying to get out of my 11 year old first car,Ford explorer. Its been an AWESOME car...but gas is starting to take its toll on me(v-8 HURTS) plus it has nearly 175k miles on it and needs repairs a bit too often for my tastes...so here comes my thoughts. I've been wanting a semi-performance car for a long tike now but never really looked around. My dream car is a lancer evolution...but that's a bit out of my price range right now...in fact I don't want to spend much over 9 k if I can avoid it. The problem is that I'm a bit limited in my selection for decent cars with decent gas mileage and not a ton of money (and not something I'm ashamed of ha ha). So like I said I've been liking around Ans came across the Dodge srt-4. Essentially its a Turbo charged neon and a very good car at that...well I'm able to get my hands on one for around 9k with about 55k miles. It seems perfect for me...what do you guys think? And have any if you had experiance with the srt 4 or have any suggestions?

havent had any experience with an srt-4. i have an 08 civic si that i freaking love though. :)

Yeah, I know the gas mileage isn't the best. If I could though, I would love to get an older one simply for the performance aspect :D

That restaurant did look like a pretty expensive one from the outside for sure.

Ah, I see. I don't know as much about the Lancer but yeah the WRX is lighter on the performance end than the STI. I didn't know the mpg on the SRT-4 was that high, that's good. The Civic Si I would imagine to be better than the WRX in terms of gas mileage (maybe slightly less than the SRT-4, nitsuj would know better :)). I don't know how the pricing would compare, though Honda's tend to hold there value quite well.

i commute with my si, so my gm is skewed to that. i get like 30 mpg with 75/25 hwy city.

when im driving like a jerk though its down around 26-27 though :D

just to screw around and see what i can pull out of the tank by driving the speed limit i have gotten 408 miles on 11 1/2 gallons (35 mpg)

Not to sound elitist or stereotypical...but I have a few reasons for disliking civics and Honda's in general. Ill be nice and keep them to myself though ha ha. My top vehicles are the wrx, lancer, srt4,RSx type s( I know still technically a Honda), and an Eclipse GT,GST, or GSX. I have talked with my father a little and he is a bit concerned about Turbo charged cars and buying them used. Does anyone have experiance with this either?

Yeah we're supposed to get rain tomorrow afternoon since it will be the in the 40's, but Tuesday and Wednesday nights are forecasted at 29

Dinner tonight:

Shredded pork - Take one pork loin, drop in slow cooker, pour a jar of your favorite salsa over the top. Add some garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook on low until the meat can be shredded with a fork.

Serve over rice with black beans, cheese, and salsa.

Easy, delicious, and nutritious.

I have been know to make a pretty mean pork butt myself; they dont let you off the island without knowing a thing or two about kalua pig.:)

You realize you are optimally positioned for the annual SF potluck. More or less central part of the country and you certainly have outstanding culinary skills.;)

Hmmm, we should get a list going. I can do a mean spinach salad or anything on the grill. We know Moonfire is baking cookies :p. Maybe Kabob can make, well, kabob's.

So who's up for the potluck?:D

Mmm potluck. I make a wicked chili and cornbread, too.

Ooo, I'm in! I make darn good dutch apple pie too, if I do say so myself.

I was super busy all day, missed out on all the excitement in here!!

*chirp chirp*

OK, so it was a quiet day.

Not that I have bought a turbo charged car, but I have shopped around for one. The one thing I was always told when looking at used TC cars was to make sure the previous owner(s) had the turbo serviced regularly.

Yum, I have my own chili recipe that others tell me is quite good.

Hey, bring something freeloader :p
That sounds absolutely delicious :D. We had pulled pork tonight here in the slow cooker. Pork butt + Guinness + Dinosaur BBQ sauce=heaven
Hmmm, now you're singing my song :D

On an unrelated note, some of you will be interested to note Im getting over my app addiction. According to appbrain I was up to like 190 and so I did some house cleaning. Anything I havent used in a month or didnt anticipate using the rest of this year I axed. 4 dozen apps lighter now. So yeah I still have about 140 but this helped a tad.

so chili lovers...crackers or fritos? discuss

Neither - just a bunch of cheese so you get those melty cheese strings when you pick up a spoonful. (Dunno why I keep talking about melty cheese..pizza craving perhaps.)

And good on ya saps for weeding out! I should do that.. But first I'm gonna come up with a few discoveries to spread here, for they are awesome and not loved enough.

Cheese, onions, and cornbread.

Crackers are acceptable in a pinch. I've never tried fritos on my chili, so I couldn't say one way or the other on that.

Oh yeah absolutely. I'm also curious to see how these cars run. I have yet to drive a Turbo charged vehicle so I'm very curious to see how these things drive. My choice car would be a late 90's eclipse gsx(Turbo plus awd) by finding one with good mileage and basically stock will be VERY difficult. But in anycase no matter what I get, I will be learning how to tune and work on it,something I've always wanted to do but never felt like doing it (part no tools, part scared of breaking something). I'm getting shivers because I'm so excited ha ha.

Oh its simply a must try! There are all sorts of places around here that sell what we call in the south frito chili pies. Sonic of course is one, and there is a place called Petros that perfected the art.

Layers in order:

Corn Chips
Chili
Cheese
Sour Cream
Green Onions
Tomatoes
OMG!!!

That actually sounds pretty good.

Its all in the chili. No crappy can chili, must be restaurant quality or homemade!

I don't do can chili anymore, not since I figured out how to make it on my own. Much better that way. :D

I'll have to give it a try. Sonic in our area doesn't have it, so I'll have to make a batch next time I make chili.
