Ok after reading a little, (and getting more sleep) Im starting to understand things a slight bit better. ROM managaer in tandem with Clockwork recovery essentially makes my phone download and install things I tell it too. And essentially everything else is like downloading an app and just running it through clockwork recovery and bam...its on there? Weather that be themes, kernals, ect.

Also I just got the new update, would it be ok to go ahead and root now, or should I wait? Oh and one last thing, once rooted, does the phone start up again normally in touchwiz (Or whatever launcher you are using) or does it start up in stock android and then im able to move and change files at my own will?

Oh I didnt see that. Now that Im on xcaht instead of freenode I cannot scroll up and see as much of the missed banter. Thats really good news. Sounds like he only needs what data then?

You're getting the right idea red. After you root your phone will seem exactly the same until you manually change something
 
So thursday night is night I go to auction so I really was busy, but it looks like some ppl were as irritated about some things as I was. If it hadn't been thursday I still may have had to just took the night off anyways. I won't say what that it was because I don't need to offend. I'm sure the regulars that know me well know I don't mean anything against them. If you don't understand my where I'm coming from here and really care to know feel free to pm me and I will happily respond in am. Till them sleepy time :D

I see that now hmmm :o You know when I hit 3K you were at like 1700 I think so you are posting a lot more than me these days. At present rates you'll get to 5k before me :p. I just dont post as much as I did before. Maybe 2.2/CM6/2.3 will get me back into posting more, who knows. Besides when I first joined AF there wasnt a lot of other helpers so I probably overdid it with 50 posts a day trying to help as much as I could. Not that I knew everything but a thing or two about a thing or two. Now with such an assortment of great helpers I know peeps in trouble have dozens of super helpful and knowledge guys and gals in here. Not to mention work does not always allow it and I sleep more at nights too

So about that knee was that in HS or College? Was it like in game? ACL? MCL? Thank the Lord in heaven outside of some low back injury's I've never torn a tendon or ligament. Plenty of war wounds of course with nearly a quarter century in the iron game but still never a potentially career altering injury yikes:eek:

End of high school lost my scholarship :( torn mcl, torn acl, then in previous employment tore so much cartlidge 90% had to be removed. But I always so there is a reason for everything. I would have never met my wife if I would have been on a different path in life. So I have no regrets
 
O yea forgot to add part yea the blowout was in game. It was injured prior to the game I played anyway. I was clipped at the point of trying to save a buddy who at the same time had his neck broke. Three places right under his brain stem lucky it didnt kill him

Hmm so what can and cant you do with that need now? Is it rebuilt and gtg or are you always compromised now? You still do any sports and stuff or cant? I never see you in the sports forum in here ;)

It took away a lot I used to be a big lower body builder 1045# squats by 10th grade, me being at 175# , then started working upper body more then. But I make it now. And Ive really never saw a the forum that your talking about:o.

I got to go pick up wife Ill talk with you more about it a lil later bud:D

And on the squats thats gotta be a typo 1045 in the tenth grade :confused: at 175lbs :confused: Buddy there's about 45 guys in the world with a 1K squat and I gotta doubt you were one of them in the 10th grade :p.

Do you still lift and stuff? Be nice to talk shop with someone in here. PeterGunz is a lifter Im finding out too. Not many of us muscle-geeks :o

All I can say is hand on the bible brother. I used to have proof but some personal things, that I would talk with you about but not making them public, happened with my mom and can no longer get them. I called the newspaper that it was in a couple years back and they told me there was a fire there and it destroyed all publications and their databases, so they have nothing before I think it was 2005. But neways no proof so it didnt happen. I have a hard time believing myself sometimes, if I hadn't been there.

But moving on I do still lift some, not as much as I'd like, but its mostly upper body and I just have always had a hard time getting into it. Mostly just inclined, military, and bench press. curls sometimes and some last pulls when I can make myself.
 
Ok...tonight is the night. I will no longer be a root virgin. Im so nervous...I hope I dont mess up and have her break up (or down ;D) with me.

Ok now it was in "safe mode" for about 2 minutes and its said press any key to continue on my computer. I did and now the window went away and my phone has gone black...is it off? Do I restart it...? Oh wait...the lights just came on...

It came back up and now the media is being scanned...I think it did it...how do I know...?

IT WORKED!!!! I now have super user and titanium back up working. Im so happy...and scared. Now to put on clockwork recovery and start tinkering... :P

Update #6 (way too late)

Ok I believe that im in clockwork recovery mode. I restarted in rom manager and it said it worked. I then restared in recovery mode and it said it was in clock work. Is there anything else I need to do? Do I need to do an update.zip or something that was on the SD card?
 
Update # 7 (2:30 and work at 9AM)

Ok so I just lost everything...bummer. Contacts and everything. Im glad I backed up everything and have APPBRAIN which recovered all my apps. Next time I need to say NO to formating everything. Lesson learned. Hmmmm...working on how to put a theme on my phone. Did clockwork install a lag fix too? In base touchwiz it doesnt seem all that faster. In ADW EX it blasts through. either way it was nice to start over from scratch

Damn red sorry yeah dont wipe data from within Rom Manager in fact its why we dont like and use rom manager :o:(. In the future just know wiping data is not 100% mandatory. Most do but I dont and you dont have to in some cases. Going to aosp to from 2.1 to 2.2 you do but otherwise in your case it wasnt necessary per se. Hope to see you back up and at em soon :o

Oh im back to normal, just need to adjust a few settings and im all ready to rock. Did I ever mention how much I LOVE ADW EX. Damn its AMAZING. Anywho, again what is the easiest way to simply install a new look or theme to my phone? Essentially all I have is a rooted clockworked phone. What is this AOSP and DJ05 and what not that everyone talks about? At this point Im VERY happy with the speed and everything, I just want to now de-bing/de-bloat my phone and put a clean looking visual flair on top ala Sense or the Droid X OS's

Also major shoutout to APP brain. I would have been dumbfounded as far as recovering my apps. Yeah I dont have any of the saved things from that, but it was nothing I couldnt live without. I have my photos, my contacts and my wallpapers and thats the important thing
