Hey Shabby, I think I may have figured out how to get rid of the constant ota update alert, but need confirmation. Did you delete the systemupdater.apk in your mod?

no, by changing the build.prop your phone doesnt connect to google thinking its a prevail, thats how i did it![]()
I think if you did that you would have problems updating prl as well as other updates.gotcha, thanks. You think my way would work? renaming the apk I mentioned?

shaddy ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,u thank there will be root out soon for this update
Shabby,
Would it be too much trouble to paste what lines you changed in the build.prop? I would appreciate it, that alert pops up every few minutes or so, and I kind of just wanted to leave it as close to stock as I can.![]()

I also got it today. I deleted the update file from the /cache directory, then I clicked reboot and update, update didn't happen because the file was missing, all is good for now (no update notification). The update specifically stated that its purpose was to address a root exploit.
You need to use a root/su file manager. Some start at the sdcard, make sure you go all the way back, and the /cache folder should be listed. The filename will look similar to this: cf7ef825e071.update_SPH-M820_ED13ToEE14.zip (I copied this from above)Can you share the path to the /cache folder and what the name of the update file was? I've tried but not sure what to look for.
Thanks!
The full path is /cache/cf7ef825e071.update_SPH-m820_ED13ToEE14.zipCan you share the path to the /cache folder and what the name of the update file was? I've tried but not sure what to look for.

The Problem with your suggestion is that the unroot procedure requires root access, and after the update there is no root access.so hypothetically speaking, if I were to restore my phone to stock, should I then be able to root it, do the things I need elevated privs for, unroot, then install samsungs update? or is this update going to stay effective even if I revert to stock?
the only real problem I have with losing root is that superuser is now orphaned on my phone.
This is it I just copied it into one line. You need to use a root/su file manager. Some start at the sdcard, make sure you go all the way back, and the /cache folder should be listed. The filename will look similar to this: cf7ef825e071.update_SPH-M820_ED13ToEE14.zip (I copied this from above)
easiest way since your going to edit build.prop anyways is to download shabbymod 0.6 pull the build.prop out of it and just push that. it not only includes that "fix" but a few other changes that i think are worthwhile.. sure its "less stock" but your gunna have to swap out build.prop for a stock one if you return it to boost anyways
