Root Sense Hero 2.1 ROM for ROOT Fully Working

I have just gone from Modaco 3.2 to Sense Hero 2.1. Does anyone else here agree that the 2.1 is, well, a little laggy? It reminds me of how my phone was out of the box. At this rate, I might go back to Modaco 3.2.. unless there is anything else I am missing to speed the rom up?

To be honest, there is a noticable amount of lag. But generally the phone feels fresh & new again. Loving the new google maps & google goggles. I don't know what the battery is like as i've only had 2.1 on for the last few hours.

Just rooted and flashed with this execellent ROM last night (damn you to hell HTC and Google). But I have a few issues

GPS - constant searching never locks on
MMS - in stock message app it sits waiting to download and MMS message sent.

Below is my settings
Firmware - SenseHero 2.1
BaseBand - 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Kernel - 2.6.29-8d063048 htc-kernal@and18.2 ~1236
Software - 2.20.65.1

I'm on Orange UK if that helps. Think I might need to update the radio for the GPS and possible the APN for MMS but not sure.

I cant get MMS to work either. The APN was blank, put in all the settings from the Orange website but it still doesn't download the message

Hi Sebsal, Jaffa,

Which Radio ROM did you use to get the GPS working?

I am currently on BaseBand - 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18, which I thought is already the latest one?

Thank you very much.

Apparently the new update to sensehero is coming:

"Tonight, after I have the daughter asleep, just gotta change two more things then it will be up..."

Looking forward to it :)

I've just flashed my hero to this ROM and love it. I followed the instructions on how to root your Hero and everything went smoothly. I've only owned my hero for about two weeks and was originally on the latest Orange ROM, so had to downgrade etc.

I do have a question though. It took some time getting this ROM onto my Hero, and now I've just read an update is coming out. Does that mean I have to do this all over again and install everything again? Or will it just update which it needs to on the ROM without having to flash the whole thing?

EDIT: No longer running SenseHERO, decided to re-flash and use VillainROM 5.3.

I got the impression a wipe would be needed when I read the sensehero forum.

EDIT: It's up, and it's an update rather than a full rom file, so I would guess a wipe isn't needed?

EDIT2: No wipe needed, but it will take a while to boot.

Some UI tweaks in this new version, including much better icons on the notification bar :) FriendSteam widget too.

Quick question.
I've downloaded an updated radio file. How do I go about installing that?

And don't ever, for any reason, take the battery out whilst you're flashing the radio. Unless you're in need of a brick.

Same way as you flash a rom, be patient and read the screen prompts

I found the prompts to be VERY misleading, to such an extent that t implied it had finished but locked up (it hadn't), I ALMOST removed the battery!!!

PS. There is a Sense 2.1 V2 ROM out now. However if you use SIMLOCK, you might want to avoid picking it up as it cause problems...

Is this ROM for Euro phones only or CDMA also? I tried to install several times on a CDMA and it keeps aborting installation.

Don't try to flash GSM roms on a CDMA phone, it will never ever work and you're just asking for trouble. This rom is actually based on a CDMA leak ported to GSM, and so if you visit the sprint hero forum you'll find all sorts of roms for your phone.

I successfully installed Sense Hero 2.1 ROM, and everything I tried ,until now, works fine. But....I noticed that wi-fi doesn't shaw locked networks, including my own. What is solvation of this problem? I flashed radio too.

Since installing Stickman's 2.1 ROM my battery life has taken a major hammering.

On the 1.5 stock rom I could easily get a days usage out of it before I would think about charging. Now the battery drains in a few hours. I went to bed last night with a 70% full battery and I looked at my phone 8 hours later (having not used it at all) and it was off as the battery was empty.

I've pretty much set all the settings to how it was before in regards to when it syncs with things, switching off GPS and Wifi when not in use etc etc, I've even tried JuiceDefender but still looking shocking. The "What's using battery" section says most of the battery is being used by Cell Standby.

If I can't work this one out I'm going to have to revert back to the original stock 1.5 ROM as while 2.1 is nice, very nice, and works very well, I can't cope with a battery life like this.
