Setting up CM6

K once they are installed and the phone is to your liking, do a fresh Nandroid back up, CM6 on flashing takes longer to reboot that the others I have tested

thanks it's working now! i did reset my phone again and now it only took like 1-2 to reboot, weird! now i just need to install the market app!!!

While you are at it, let me know if you are able to make a 3 way call, I have been asking to see how many cannot on Froyo 2.2. Some can and some others can't and I am trying to find the reason

Yes, I was able to make a 3 way call!

How do you install the market? I already downloaded the file, tried to flash it at least 5 times and it's still not showing on my phone! I'm almost ready to give up and remove CM6 from my phone and go back to LiquiditySense 2.1 >.<

Edit: Okay, my problem was that I was flashing the wrong file... I think someone should edit the main post of this thread and explain that the right file is at the very bottom of the page. Not so smart people like me downloaded the file right ander HTC Hero cmda... No wonder why it never worked! xD

I was downloading the file with this name update-cm-6.0.0-Heroc-signed.zip. I just spent so much time trying to get CM6 the way I like before doing a Nandroid backup and now I keep getting this message "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and I can't use my phone at all even after rebooting. Plus it is so freaking laggy... *sigh*...

The problem is that if you were unsure simply ask what files and for what, last night I explained exactly what to do and to flash the CM6 file from scratch before you install any apps. this way if you did something wrong, or when you took the battery out and the phone took long to finish, it may of caused a corruption. This is a learning curve for all of us and sometimes we all get ahead of oneself as we want to do everything right and don't want to wait, you won't be the first to mess up and you won't be the last, I had a similar issue yesterday and took all day to resolve but once I got it I felt good about doing the research and resolving it and got my phone working like a champ, minus the fact I still cannot do a 3 way call, LOL but we are here if you need anything, so don't sweat it, as you have a back up so no harm is done, just time lost from installing the apps all over again, look at it this way, you are learning the hard way, LOL like me, TTYS ;)

Make sure you wipe Davlik cache in recovery

Hey, still loving CM6. (I still haven't customized it to my heart's content, and that includes jit, etc.)
But, there's something worrying.
When I text (as a response), it sometimes sends my message to my twitter feed (bypassing the individual I was responding to with text). This hasn't resulted in too much embarrassment, but it has really derailed two planned occasions, and I am afraid feelings were hurt.

What do you think is going on? Has this happened to anyone else? What should I do about it?

Thanks in advance.

I would post that is a thread to the developer, may get a simple solution to it.

One or the other...
If you want to OC - use 768 -
If you are happy with stock speed - use 691 -
Reboot into Recovery - Wipe Davlik cache - then Flash the Kernal -
Then reboot....

Jeffery - What Version -
Can Confirm Exchange working on the Nov 9th Nightly....
PURPLE GLASS THEME!

I'm running 6.1.0-RC1-Heroc

What are nightlies? Is there a better version than the one I'm running? I got the exchange working...it ended up being a server error on my employers side.

I've also noticed, not a deal breaker, but almost ALL my apps keep running, even after killing them with Advanced Task Killer. Stuff like Pandora, Maps, and Facebook...stuff I don't want running all the time. Is this normal?

I had the same question about nightlies.

And about the apps that wont close when using a taskkiller, I use taskpanel X and when I try to kill some apps, I get a message saying that some 3rd party apps can't be killed because that function has been disabled on Android 2.2 and the only way to kill them is by going to Application Settings > Manage Applications > Force to Stop. So, it sounds like it is normal.

Thanks Bro! So what are nightlies? Also, are you OCing? Do most users have good results with that?

Nightlies are CM6 - Just with constant tweaks -
I am running the Nov 7th and loving it. (haven't seen a new one out since...they seemed to have slowed to bi-weeklies recently)

Instead of task Killer - Try Auto Killer - Set your settings to extreme - should hold off many of the things that Randomly Start up. Also - hit the Back key instead of home to get out of an app.

Yes - I OC on Cm6 - 768OC - and underclock when screen is off to conserve battery...

Cool man thanks! I am using Autokiller...I will set it higher. Can you throw me a link to the nightlies? I'll try overclocking when I'm done killing zombies on Left4Dead2. What OC app do you use? SetCpu or OCWidget?

Well, I installed both of the Kernels the one with the stock speed and the OC one, and maybe it's just me but I don't really see much difference between them, however, my phone does run a lot smother, even though it still lags every now and then.

Lozer - did you Flash them or just download them -
Sorry......i have to ask.

I'm sure I flashed them... I went to Recovery Mode > Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache > Installed zip from SD Card > Choose zip from SD card > Install Zip > Reboot. I hope those were the right steps

It will also tell you if successful when flashed
