Setting up CM6

Yep, you can flash any nightly you want instead of the RC1. With the nightlies, there may be bugs but you may have to look real hard to find them though;)

Look here for nightlies TeamDouche Mirror System

You can also try the most recent nightly http://mirror.teamdouche.net/get/heroc/cm_heroc_full-122.zip

Couple new questions from the newbie:

If I flash a nightly or a kernel does it wipe the why my screens are laid out?

Also, I’m running: CM6.1.0-rc1, Kernel: 2.6.29.6 uncapped # 16

I’m having lag issues with the lock screen, any suggestions?

What kernel is everyone using?

No worries, happy to help:):)

If you have CM6 on your phone now, flashing a new a nightly will NOT erase anything with your phone settings. Apps, ringtones, google account.... will be as you left them after you flash the rom. There is hitch, DO NOT WIPE DATA:eek: You do NOT need to wipe data if you are flashing a nightly. Wipe Davlik cache and cache first, then flash the rom.

Flashing a kernel is the same thing, only need to wipe Davlik cache and cache.

Now, if you decide to flash a new nightly and on your current setup you have one of Deca's kernels, once you flash the NEW nightly, you WILL have the stock kernel again. You will need to flash the kernel again.;)

2 ways of flashing a new kernel:

1. After flashing the new nightly and letting the phone boot back up, you can reboot back to recovery and flash the kernel again (I recommend this route as I've never ran into boot loops)

or

2. In recovery, flash the new nightly first then flash the new kernel. Then reboot phone

Great, what do you think about the lag im having? Should I use a defferent kernel?

I personally use just the stock kernel right now;) I don't have any lag issues with the lock screen. I know some have had good results with the 10/28 RC1, personally I did not like it. Maybe try a nightly and see if that fixes it

So do the nightlys change the kernal? How can I get back to base kernal and not wipe out how im setup? Your right I didn't have any lag on the stock RC1.

If you want to get back to the stock kernel, simply reflash the RC1. Just like you were flashing a new nightly. Nandroid first;) (just in case). Wipe davlik cache and cache, then flash the RC1 again, reboot phone

Anytime you flash the rom or a new nightly, the kernel will go back to the stock kernel

If you disable the dots beside the dockbar, then enable the action buttons under ADW settings. After that just add any app you want to the home screen and then drag it down to the desired position you like on the dockbar (except the middle trash icon, you have to keep the app drawer). Hope this helps!

Thanks for the above information. Here are a few steps missed for the next guy looking to do this.

1.ADW settings
2.UI settings
3.uncheck desktop dots
4.check LAB and RAB
5.go to home page add icons to lower bar

Hope this helps someone in the future!

I have always had a problem with a slight lock screen lag. Seems like the overclock widget takes a second to ramp up the cpu. If you are patient with it, and wait it will swipe to unlock cleanly, (at least in my experience)

Man some crazy shit is going on with my phone right now. No text, can't call anyone, getting force close on dialer. Rebooted and same problems. Going back to stock RC1 as I type, hope this fixes it!

I've been using Fresh 2.4.0 and got tired of the "Running Low" memory message. I just switched to CM6 and love it. BUMP for this post. I'm going to run through all of the user posts too, because there's a lot of really useful information! Thanks to everyone for your contributions. This is just awesome.

Not sure- It works for yahoo mail in cm6 not aosp.....
but if you put it through your native e-mail app you will get Battery drain to push the e-mails. If you keep them on the gmail app they should automatically push....

I installed this ROM, but my main screen is stuck on the blue guy with the arrow around him and this thing going around it... is that normal? It's been like that for almost 10 mins o_O. I removed the battery to reboot my phone and turned my phone back on and my phone is stull stuck on that screen with the blue alien on the skateboard... it won't go away. Any help on this?

CM6 could take up to 15 minutes, the issue is now that you took the battery out now, so I am not sure if that froze the process. I would take the battery out, then reboot in recovery mode, Volume down and End key, once there hit the home key to get into recovery, wipe cache partition, then scroll down to advance and wipe Davlik cache, once done arrow back, then scroll to install zip from SD/ then choose zip from SD card/ then scroll to your CM6 zip and hit that, then scroll down to yes and install, Then do the same for Gapps which is google apps, then let it do it's own thing and be patient, it takes longer than the other roms

FYI Sunday is usually a bad day to do your testing, most peeps don't come on the forums on Sunday, that is why it is so quiet, LOL good luck
