New here - hello. I've been enjoying following this thread for a day or two, and getting caught up in the speculation and anticipation.

Mine is on order from Google Play UK as from July 8th. I was hoping to see some +ve news from over the atlantic this morning, but stil nothing :(

AND - then my google search results show the East Morning Herald reporting that the carphone warehouse have confirmed a UK national release date on the 27 July! (sorry for no active link, forum software wont allow it on first post)

Of course, if true, that leaves a whole lot of other variables unanswered, but it seems a long way off! Hopefully that does not include those of us who had the motivation to pre-order directly from Google ... hopefully.

Although this is only for the UK, if a shared release date is planned .... then who knows !?!

I'm just buoying myself up by repeatedly chanting, "B&M definitely comes last, B&M definitely comes last", like a man possessed.

Let's hope this is just sloppy journalism :)
 
all of that said, Currys, Car Phone Warehouse and Dixons all have the tablet listed as available from 19th July. So much confusion.
 
After carefully compiling all of the rumours, emails, calls and leaks, I can say with absolute certainty that the release date will be either the 12th, the 19th, the 27th, August, or 2013. If we're lucky.
 
Lots of people on G+ claiming to have been told the following by Google Play helpdesk operators:

1. The Nexus 7 starts shipping today (12th); and,

2. They will be sent in waves of priority depending upon when the order was made.

I dont know if this only applies to the US, but it sounds promising ... if true of course :)
 
I thought I would wake up to people getting tracking numbers. Wrong again. I hope the shipping today rumors are true, but I'm a little miffed I won't get it until Monday instead of being able to play with it this weekend.

I don't understand why they would start shipping today...I assumed they would ship to us when they shipped to the retailers..anyone know if "starting shipping the 12th" is referring to them shipping it out from wherever they were originally to the US, or they're already in the US and their talking about shipping distribution? I remember reading someone say shipping from their location would take 2 days to distribute to most people in which case we wouldn't see it at the earliest Saturday (more probable that it's next week)
 
Sorry..but how is that any different than all of the other retailers and their release dates? What does that have to do with the Google preorders?

Well I don't know if Google has any control over that store, but I've seen a lot about Google and Asus telling other retailers not to sell yet. I assume they want pre-orders to get shipped first.

Maybe just wishful speculation.:)

I doubt it. If it ships today UPS with 2 day shipping everyone paid for it would be Monday before we get it. If it shipped USPS we could get it Saturday but Google's help page says everything ships UPS.

So unless the rumors of it shipping yesterday were true, then Monday. Ugh.
