Show us your Desire Homescreens...

By the by, cheers for the site, loads of great apps on there.

After only 3 days, I feel a change coming on..... :D

where abouts on the SD card do I store them? I mean, im going to need to be able to access the folder through Folder Organiser, but I can only see Icon Apps in that?

AS far as I recall you need to just store them in any folder on the SD card. I store mine under a folder called icons within the media folder :)

You then need to use FolderOrganizer to change Icon but you also need ASTRO (free app)

When changing icon you get a window appear and one option is Android Image Gallery. Select and press OK and then choose ASTRO. Then go to the folder where you store the icons and choose the icon you want to assign. Job done :)

Hmmm Icon from that site turn out tiny when I add them to the home screens....

Same issue I had. The icons have a large amount of transparent space around them. Need to open them up into Photoshop (or something similar) and crop the image (I did it to 72x72) to remove the blank space around the image :)

All good after that :)

Oof I know nowt about that dajomel.

If it's easy enough to do a quick walk through cool, if not I will leave it.

I used GIMP (free to download).

Edit the Icons through this, I highlighted them with the highlighting tool, scaled them to 72x72 then cropped them transparent background to size and saved as a png file.

Give me a shout if you are trying it and need a hand, I just got it by fumbling about a bit.

How do some people have "custom" icons as their bottom row of icons?

Eg. Where the "All Programs" "Phone" and "Add Widget" icons are by default?

Is this only available to those who have rooted?

you need a different homescreen app, i use launcher pro for mine some nice updates recently on it :) you dont need to have the phone rooted which is a bonus for me as i dont want to plunge into rooting it quite yet

If you mean like on my screenies (have a look on the previous page) then it's because I have LauncherPro installed.

LauncherPro Beta - Android app on AppBrain

It's an alternative to Sense.

Cheers lads. I've seen Launcher Pro, but haven't actually used it yet. Like you Doad, I don't fancy rooting just yet, but am intrigued by all the different options.

LauncherPro is well worth a look bud, I was reluctant to install it at first as I was liking Sense but I wouldn't go back now.

You can choose what goes on your bar at the bottom and pick how many screens you want (up to 7) amongst a lot of other things.

It's easy enough to switch back if you don't like it as well.

Thanks, mate. I could have to check that out.

Is it simply a case of uninstalling it if you don't like it and everything returns to normal?

Yeah, once you install it it will give you the option to use this or Sense. If you choose Pro and click to use as default, everything will run through this.

If you get fed up of it you can get an app called home switcher and switch back to Sense and run the phone through that (Sure there is an easier way through the settings but can't remember).

If you want it uninstalled, do it through the Market as per.

Don't worry, you won't be stuck on it.

simplicity is a good thing, i only have 3 homescreens

For those that are using Beautiful Widgets for weather, does it only report the current weather in your location like the default HTC one, or does it give you the day's forecast? Given that apparently the HTC one is only able to show you the current conditions, on days like today, it would be nice for me to have known this morning that it was going to rain in the afternoon so I could've grabbed an umbrella.

This is how I do it:

Make sure you have ASTRO File Manager Android application - AppStoreHQ installed.

Find a icon pack, or any image you want as a icon and save it to your SD Disk.

Make a folder called "My icons" or whatever you wish. Also add the .nomedia file in the folder so those icons/images dont show up in your picture viewer. (How to hide non-music audio files from appearing in Android media players | andrew | Androinica)

Now, using FolderOrganizer, lets say you want a shortcut, go to the shortcut tab, hit meny, "New shortcut", add the one you want.

Then, tap and hold on the new shortcut, chose "Change icon", then "Android Image Gallery" then "Astro". Find your "My Icons" folder, and click on the desired Icon/image you want.

And there you have it, custom Icon form a website, or chosen image.

Voltage

Can you do this with lite version of FolderOrganizer, or do you need the full paid for version?
