Root splash loop with no recovery

nu2moding

Well-Known Member
rooted w/ unrevoked(not sure which one-my lilbro's evo)
running mikG 2.56, golden monkey 1.1
supersonic evt3 ship s-off
hboot-6.16.1002
MI CROP-041f
touchpanel-AMEL224_16ab
Radio-2.15.00.0808

tried this ruu MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
nothing
then tried this one(stock) Free File Hosting, Online Storage &amp File Upload with FileServe
n still nothing
got into fast boot n loaded this recovery
http://files.androidspin.com/files/amon_ra/RECOVERY/recovery-RA-supersonic-v2.3.img
nothing with that, either:mad:
basically this is my lil bro's fon n he had the above flashed n running when he decided to set cpu@122mhz. b4 it was running good for nearly 2mos, but after set cpu, he says it got stuck in the splashcscreen loop,-almost as if he's oc'd too high with run at boot enabled- let him say, that's all he did, but im not so sure- i've seen this problem addressed on here, but never resolved(splash loop w/o recovery) what else is there to do since adb dont read this evo but fastboot does?
there's a steep learning curve here, too people- camefrom a rinkey-dink huawei m835 to an optimus m n now this:o
BTW, i DO kno how to run lgnpst to recover n unbrick my lg, got cdma workshop, too, qpst as well, but i think they might not work in this instance(provided that there aren't any .bin, .dll or .src files i can load on lgnpst to try n fix this evo)
any ideas?

bump!

There is probably an easier way to get out of this but the way i have had to do it before was to pull the battery, boot into recovery and restore a nand.

I bumped it up so maybe one of the wiser heads can offer a better suggestion, but, that will work if you have a nan.

Alternately, flash a new rom and kernel?

i cant even get INTO recovery, smh
powering on the fon normally, it just sits on the htc white screen, relooping every 3-7 min or so

in hboot, you select recovery n it starts the whole freez on htc screen thing again.
running any ruu doesnt change much, only fastboot sees the device
THEN a potentialfix i found dont work(enables eng hboot, i think) n it says bypass on the bootloader check thingy n aparently the thing doesnt do what its supposed 2do

then, it turns out my lil bro dont even remember wtf he was doing to get to the state he's in, the underclock issue was the 1st prob followed by him panicking n doing i dunno what- he paid a dude $40 to root it b4 n da same dude'll charge him again, n money's tight
PLUS i wanna figure this out cuz this learning experience is priceless when i eventually get the LG esteem(metroPCS) for my self-as much as i like the evo, no credit means full price4me:(

I don't know what you need to do to fix it, but at least now you are back up here where folk who know better might see and chime in.

hang in there, see who shows up over here.

Wow, this sounds familiar :p:p

Still have not had time for the fix on my phone:( But I'm going to give it a try this weekend;)

ok so this is the trick that was up my sleeve. try this out:xda-developers - View Single Post - [q] help! Evo stuck in boot loop :'(

and if you want ot readthe entire thread here you go:[q] help! Evo stuck in boot loop :'( - xda-developers

ok, when it runs the ruu,i guess something else is going on cuz when its loading it says bypass on the bootloader. tried fastboot by its self n the same thing.
later, i accidently cut n pasted fastboot erasesystem:eek:, automatically ran:o:eek::eek: n now it wont even start bootlooping-str8 to hboot n now ZERO ruu's frigging work-
currently looking for a system.img to try n flash:(

fastbooting in a rom gives errors.
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! what i do?!?!
im guessing its beyond repair now that the system partition's erased?
f**K i hope not

Try pulling battery and reflash recovery if it will let you.

even tried to reflash a recovery through fastboot b4 erasing system partition n nada.
stuck on the OP hboot version, n ruu's didnt change it b4 i erased the system partition
now Ruu's dont even stinking load

umm, anyone got a mikG 2.56 system image i can try n fastboot in?
(yeah RIGHT!!)

does your phone see the ruu when in hboot? what does it do?

it loads for a long time like its about to do something, but then the whole wrong .zip, zip not found thing.

fastbooted in the system.img from this supposedly stock ruu
and THAT got it to at least read the ruu cuz b4 i put a system.img, it would go str8 to fastboot(having accidentally erased the one on the phone due to an issue with copy/paste, quick editing and an unfortunate keypress:o)

question, when flashing on evo 4g's, whatever you are trying to flash, the, i guess radio(?) has to be compatible with the hboot version, correct?
i'll tell you sumtin, this thing aint so easy- a steep learning curve here:p

correct. the file you flash needs to correspond to your hboot and radios, so older ruus will not work. however, newer ruu's could work because the phone will think it is receiving an ota so the latest ruu's should work.

Try downloading this file RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.53.651.1_Radio_2.15 .00.0808_NV_2.15_release_209995_signed this is the stock ROM for the Evo and this is a .exe file so download and run and follow the instructions. You will lose everything but it's worked for me and others and should let you start over fresh.

the problem is i do not think that he can boot up to a workable phone. the phone needs to be up and running for the ruu to work.
