Sprint Store Online - Sold out

The thing that is upsetting the most is what most of you seem to miss, has Sprint officially said what the delay is???

How does that make you feel as a customer??

When all the other thing, Wii, PS3, etc went Sold Out, we had a word why.
Is HTC fixing problems, hopefully. Do we have a guarantee, no. that I think is the most upsetting to me.

Sprint hasn't said why, and I don't expect them too. I'm sure its not good marketing to come out and say "We are sold out because we are having issues with the phone and are changing some things". They are not required to tell you why and I don't expect them to just offer that to you if there is a possibility that it could hurt their image.

And before you say "Them not saying something is bad publicity"...look at it from a view of someone not on a message board. Most people don't know nor care. We are just a small percentage that makes up Sprint's customer base that wants the phone and partakes in communities like this. We are by far the minority. I don't expect Sprint to cater to us.

Now put yourself in the shoes of current people buying '11 Mustangs. These past few months a lot of them have been left in the dark about their cars. They have been built, but have been sitting in Ford's lot and not being shipped. Ford hasn't said a thing because (a) they aren't required to and (b) telling the masses their is an issue is not good publicity. When the car is ready and up to Ford's standards, it will be shipped.

and to the people saying that the Third party stores are getting phones of the old build, lets think about that. If the phone is sold out it is sold out. Now the new run in the HTC plants would be the new build, so unless HTC is building two builds at the same time this makes no sense. I dont think there is some magic bunker hiding all these phones from for people who are getting them third party wise.

What you have to understand about 3rd party stores (Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc...) is that they have a supply chain that goes beyond getting a shipment directly from HTC. They may have some stock somewhere within their system that was shipped a few weeks ago and is just now making it to their store fronts. Sprint.com most likely gets their stock directly from the manufacturer.

So. . . . . million dollar question. . .

Do folks think that the white Evo coming to Best Buy next month will have incorporated the hardware fixes that made their way to version 003?

I know that no one here has the answer, but informed speculation would be appreciated.

now think about it in your job, tell your boss it will be done soon, then wait three weeks and keep giving the same answer..

So I also assume all the people saying I am a cry baby have the phone. Well lets say HTC is fixing a problem and the next run comes out and is running better and has a better build quality, I bet all of you will start bitching and want to get the new build and will find some flaw with your phone to get a new one. Just like it seems a lot of people are on their second and some their third phone already! So in that light I say if you have a phone stop thinking you are better and look at sprints loyalty to customers, all that I can see is that all the people waiting for the phones is an idea of when they might be available.

Right on the website in plain english it says the phone is out of stock due to high demand.

We've been speculating and there have been sources saying they are fixing issues. Seems like if said issues reached a critical mass that warranted an official statement you are wishing for, they would have done so. I would conclude the original issues weren't statistically relevant enough to bring attention to the subject. From a marketing aspect, would you rather put out a message " we're fixing this stupid defective phone, wait a few weeks." or would you rather say "this phone is selling like hotcakes, check back later to get your own". It just makes sense...

As for guarantees - these things do not exist, and if they are advertised then I would run the hell away, because it is probably a lie. Without a doubt there are numerous variables in the EVO availability mix, with demand and factory issues only being two of them.

And fyi I am also waiting on Sprint online to have them in stock again. I'm holding my piss the best I can, but hopefully I will make it a couple more weeks.

I certainly hope it's not a couple more weeks (unless they are implementing some significant fixes).

Will Sprint be extending their "30-day guarantee" for those of us who want an exchange & purchased our EvO on launch day?

The 30 day guarantee is if you don't like it, you can return it and get your money back. Or you can exchange it for a different phone.

You can exchange it for a new one while its still under warranty if there is a manuf. defect.

At least thats how I read/understand it.

I just ordered my Evos (x3), they emailed me back saying they are out of stock and will ship early next week.
Ended up paying for overnight shipping ($12) to get them faster.

I ordered from the EVP site, not sure if they use the same stock as the normal online store.

So they'll provide a brand new EvO & not refurb, right?

I can't be positive about this but I would think since the phone is so new, they'd provide a new phone.

The 30 days is an exchange/return policy. Exchange, according to that policy, is for a different phone. Different = different brand and/or model.

What I would do is get on record them telling you a new one will be provided to be 100% sure.

Usually if it's an exchange within the 30 days then you should get a new one. If it's a warranty exchange after the 30 days then you will most probably get a refurb unless none are available.

I just called my Sprint Business associate, and she said that large new inventory of EVOs arrived this past Friday, so if you had one on order, you should be receiving one soon.

I'd be careful, that's not an 'official' Sprint site. It's one of their 3rd party reseller people. I ran across this earlier at a site called Credit Union & Sprint that looked very Sprint official and offered a free car charger with your order. Problem was the domain was registered to a guy named George Elias, not Sprint.

Your best deal is to call Sprint customer service and take advantage of their special offers. Then order the phones through your local Sprint store.

The 3 Evos I ordered yesterday shipped out this morning...

Wow thanks for the heads up htmlcssguru, I called Sprint to confirm I got my 19% discount and they gave me free over night shipping since they thought there would be a wait to get the phones. Plus they say all 3 shipped out so I guess it was good mistake lol.

I got that website by calling the normal Sprint number too, kinda of weird.

That is funny when you contact Sprint to complain on the wait they tell you to get one of their other "Great" phones and then return it and then get the EVO? But they don't tell you that they will charge you for restocking if the phone has been activated.

It is in their policy which is easily found on their site.

If you are a new customer and want to cancel your service in the first 30 days, no restocking fee applies.

If you are an existing customer trying to send back your new phone or exchange for a different phone, a $35 restocking fee is required.

Called Sprint on Sunday and ordered a replacement Evo, which shipped yesterday with over night delivery. I jusr got it today and its charging right now. I checked the build date and its 6/14. Hopefully this will fix my light leakage onto the lcd.

If youre within 30days you will get a new replacement.

I'm thinking that Sprint is scurrying to fill existing orders and returns/exchanges as the phones come in. Once they have that under some kind of control, then we will see places like Best Buy, Walmart, and the Sprint Online Store get stock back in. I know that no brick and mortar corporate store, Best Buy or Walmart have stock in Charlotte, NC. I checked one Radio Shack and it was out.

I'm just wanting to get my hands on one. I'm thinking sometime over the next two weeks before the major players start getting major quantities of stock in.

I am sprint empolyee.. in the business managment group.. All of my back orders were filled today which was about a weeks worth. I currently have 3500 left in our warehouse now for our department. I can probably help some of you guys out in getting your EVO's a bit sooner if you want to go ahead and private message me.

I am bit reluctant to post my employee email on a public forum but if your serious about getting your hands on one private message me and i will get you my contact info

Received EVO today from sprint.com. The hardware version is still 0003, screen is flush. Do not know if it had the grounding issue because it downloaded the update upon turning it on. I did notice in the menu there is an HDMI setting to set video output to Automatic, 720p, or 480p. I did not notice this before but it may have already been there.

Can you tell us the build date? It's printed on the inside of the battery cover lower left hand side.

yea was just coming ont o let people know....went to sprint just bullshittin and about shit myself when i didn't see the "more on there way" message.Best buy better not get a shipment in before i have this in my hand considering i have to send a rebate in when goin through sprint

I don't think the build date printed on the battery cover has anything to do with the actual build date of the phone. It's dated 5/10/10, which is the same date printed on my old launch day 0002 Evo.

I would imagine the battery cover is not made specific to the phone. I'm sure it's just an assembly line of parts put together. The battery cover is probably added toward the end of the process.
