Root Step by Step Rooting Instructions: for Huawei Ascend

hello all i know Im way late for this.
Im am new to the community and just purchased a metro android . TAPOUT
i enjoy the phone but told told that i can get more from it then the out of box experience
so stumbled upon here . here is my dilemma
I am unable to remove any of the bloatware using TB (free) I get an Failed to locate apk file message any ideas ..


I should mention I have Huawie ascind
Metro so its probably 2.2
I read several users having a situation whereas they could not even root their phones ( possibly because it was 2.2) I fortunately am able to root phone just unable to delete stock apps ..

Hi this is my first post. I'm nous and I'm rooted and I'm running 2.2. I'm having a problem with my mms. I seem to be able to receive them but not send them. I'm only rooted, I'm not running any rom. Is there any fix for it? Oh any I'm on metro. Please help
 
Okay, i know this is gonna sound really stupid but i have no clue what i am doing here, i thought i was reading everything right and doing the right steps but i am clueless!! Help!!! I'm having difficulty rooting my phone with the z4root.apk and what steps to do after i'm done rooting it so i can removed bloatware to make my phone run faster, i also been having some issues with textig on this phone too, i text too fast and sometimes when i do that, it freezes up :( ugh... Help here!!


And does anyone know if there's an app or something i can install to make picture quality on this phone better? Or at least decent? If i'd known the pic quality was crappy, i would've stuck with my lg optimus m, if i don't get anything i want done to this phone, i'm going to have to buy me another optimus since the girl i traded my phone with is probably not going to give me my phone back *sigh* :(


so if someone can please walk me through the steps, i would gladly appreciate it! And please don't send me a link to another forum, i would like to remain on this page!! Thanks!! : )

What have you done so far? A little more info would help us help you. But honestly, a simple search or reading through the above-mentioned thread will probably give you most of the answers you're looking for.

Wow there are some -not so nice- people on these forums apparently. I have the Huawei Ascend phone and I don't know what happened to it but when I updated it from 2.1 to 2.2.2, the camera settings were messed up and it takes horrible pictures and it's supposed to have 3.2 camera? My Optimus M I had before I traded it with the Ascend had a 3.2 camera and the quality of the pictures were fine. IDK what I did wrong but I really wish I didn't get rid of my Optimus M now :(

its not that we are not-so-nice, this question has been ask over a million times and its under the official 2.2 thread that we have on here, and we are trying to cut down on the same issues what people are having and merge them into one category for others that come here with the same issues, but no harm was intended by no one here and sorry if you took us the wrong way. :cool:
 
Don't know what i was doing wrong but when i tried to run z4root on my ascend, it didn't work, all it did was just locked the phone to where i can't drag or remove items from home screens :( and i dont think the z4root works on the ascend for metro users. Is there any alternatives i can use?? I want to root my phone but i'm scared i'll mess something up and won't get it back working again... That's why i haven't even tried rooting it yet....

I'm not sure anyone here has heard of an Ascend becoming unrecoverable without some type of physical damage to it.

Before you do anything, make sure you've backed up all your contacts with your Google account. Make sure anything you don't want to lose has a checked box in your account settings. Lost contacts suck, and just about anything else other than pics or music is only a market away.

So you followed Jazziette's or tokenpoke's instructions right? And even after rebooting your phone the apps on your home screen are still locked? Exactly what happened when you tried to run z4root? In your application settings, you have Unknown sources checked?

z4root won't work on the 2.2 update. Use an app called gingerbreak. Theres not much you can do to improve the camera on this phone. It just sucks, unfortunately.

Durr, that's right. I'm on Cricket, never have ran 2.2, I keep forgetting about that.
 
Hey!! I know this post is a little bit old but it really helped me rooting my metro phone.. It was really easy to do, but because I am a little cheap ( I admit it) I didnt want to buy the Titanium backup pro so I did a little research and I did my backup and aplication freezing with the free aplication AntTek App Manager and it worked just fine..

Is there some kind of setback like the apple of death for the iphone when you root the droid? ANd also when its rooted do you have to keeo the debugging etc. on?
 
My phone is a Metro PCS one and it has upgraded to 2.2 for the OS, I keep trying to do the z4root, but it keeps closing on obtaining root shell, then I have to reboot the phone to even try it again.

It seems that I don't have to correct drivers for my phone either on my pc, where can I download the drivers to update that and then be able to use the windows software to root the phone. I am just not having any luck with this at all!!

Thanks for any and all help with this!! I am a new user and hate all the bloatware on my phone!! So much crap and I cannot install the apps I want to!!

I tried to download the gingerbreak app, will not unpack on my phone. What can I do to root this stupid phone!!!

I actually looked up how to root a 2.2 huawei phone and found an older z4root program, it seems to be working, but I will let you know.

Gingerbreak worked!! OMG I am in your debt!! Now to figure out the superuser app. Do I need that to uninstall the apps I don't want, I have norton utilities that I normally have been using.

Thank you so much again, I was resigned to the fact that the rooting would not happen!!:D

I was told to use SDX Stock app remover software, having a hard time finding it!!

Youre welcome. And yes SuperUser gives apps that require you to be rooted SuperUser permissions. When you open a program, lets say Root Explorer which you can delete factory apps in, a window will pop up asking if you want to give Root Explorer superuser permissions. Then check always and yes. Now you can use Root Explorer to do things you normally couldnt do. Such as delete factory apps/bloatware. I personally use Root Explorer which is on the Market but its not free. but a very useful app worth the money, to delete things. But there is other apps and such on the Market that you can use to delete apps you dont want that you cant usually delete. If it doesnt say "ROOT REQUIRED" it most likely wont delete or even get to the files to delete bloatware and what not.
