Root The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

It says no WiMAX included does that matter

No one should be changing WiMax radios. We have the latest WiMax radio: 29047.
md5 for the Sprint version: 3123a4a3654cf5d22228117258702b21

You can check this by entering "wimax_mtd" in a terminal as su. You'll find "Check Firmware Version (R4624-US-29047)" in the output.

I posted before saying this fixed all my problems, which is did... for about a week. Now I am getting the error 100% of the time. I cannot send or receive texts or calls. Unless someone has any ideas I am switching carriers. It's too bad. While the phone was working I was very happy.

I keep getting boot loop with stock rom. When I switch back to hboot 1.57, then I can boot into stock rom. On the other hand, midnight rom works. So the question, after I update pri, radio, prl, and then switch hboot back to 1.57, is that fine? I have two phones right now, and experimenting on the non-activated phone.

It can also be Virgin Mobile service. I used to get 5 bars reception in my house. For the last couple of days I get no reception at all from my house. At first I thought it was the EVO V. Since, I have 3 VM phones. They all show the same problem. Loss of reception or very minimal reception. At around 11:30PM, the reception came back on all the phones.

Virgin Mobile is starting to annoy me.

Sadly, that's the state of all providers. Amongst my friends, relatives, colleagues, neighbors, everyone complains about their service. Those on Verizon are the only ones who don't complain about service. On the other hand, they complain like crazy about the bill. Some switched over to VM after hearing my experience (I warned them too). They said to go from $100 to $35 is worth it. Now they complain about the text problem...

Yes, it's that simple.

Wow. then do the same process for the radio and pri? also so the only things i really have to worry about is bricking my phone trying to do the S-Off trick?

Correct, easiest, hardcore mod ever. :D

S-off is the hardest part, after that, everything is pretty much cake. Kind of funny that changing the PRL is more difficult than changing the radio and hboot or PRI.

I have to get some electrical tape then I can try S-Off. How hard was it for you? Also why is changing the PRL so difficult?

so i went ahead and flashed everything except the plr. for some reason my phone isn't recognized by qpst or cmda workshop. i have the diag drivers installed and i've tried doing it with debugging on and off. i'm running windows x64 if anyone has any idea please let me know thnks

Easy once I figured out what I was doing wrong.
PRL isn't THAT bad really. It's the same procedure for the OV and many other phones.

Did you enable diagnostic mode (##diag#)?

yes i did enable diagnostic mode, but when i look at the qpst configuration it can't find my device. also when i was using cdma workshop every time i try to do something it would say failed. phone not responding or something like that

Okay, so my phone is S OFF (that was a blast) rooted, and now I'm running the Midnight ROM. Oddly enough, I can never get the bootloader to run without putting in the code in Command Prompt (C:/sdk-tools, etc). My phone normally turns on every time I try the usual Power + Vol Down method. It's weird because I did this a million times on the Triumph, but on the Evo, I have never done it right. Any suggestions? =S

what recovery are you using? you can boot into recovery via like the 4ext app. theres a power menu in the app, and one of the options is to boot into recovery. if youre using twrp 2, goo manager might have an option similar, i just dont remember.

I have no idea, but I just installed whatever was in the root guide here: http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-a...ing-evo-v-4g-roms-kernels-using-fastboot.html I think it's TeamWin Recovery Project? I actually installed the Midnightrom by using the code in this thread since I couldn't get to it the normal way.
