Root The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

Okay, so my phone is S OFF (that was a blast) rooted, and now I'm running the Midnight ROM. Oddly enough, I can never get the bootloader to run without putting in the code in Command Prompt (C:/sdk-tools, etc). My phone normally turns on every time I try the usual Power + Vol Down method. It's weird because I did this a million times on the Triumph, but on the Evo, I have never done it right. Any suggestions? =S
in the power settings in the settings menu turn off fast boot that should be what your problem is.

Easy once I figured out what I was doing wrong.
PRL isn't THAT bad really. It's the same procedure for the OV and many other phones.

I have never done a PRL switch before so looking at the steps its like rocket science to me. Looking at a video would help me out a lot. Are there any?

It's not as bad as you think. Install HTC Sync to get all of the drivers easily and you can uninstall it afterwards. Then just follow the steps. QPST has a lot of stuff you can do with it, but the directions are clear enough that you will only need to do exactly what it says to use the new PRL.

First off God bless you Leslie ann, you rock...hope to see you in glory, for some reason the guides you write are only ones that I can understand(I'm a new tech freak) anyways running mdnght1.2 s-off just flashed hboot, pri, radio and huge improvements thus far. A couple random reboots which you say is no biggie, installed qpsd and it won't see my phone, debugging off dial ##3424# shows up connected on my phone, not on pc, no option to browse....please help, and thanks:)

Try taking out the battery, then power and volume down.

Okay, so I have no idea if any of these zips are actually installing, every time I try to install any of the zips it opens the zip, attempts to install, and then says it aborts. I assumed it went though and I did the last step with the program (and it never detects my phone) and now I can't get the DM Recovery to go away now... =S

i try going back to stock rom stuck in boot loop what rom is rite rom to install PRL i see someone stay sence 3.6 rom is that stock rom after rooting?? or is there somewhere else ? can link it plez really love any help im just looking at my phone boot looping :(

If it said it failed, then it probably didn't work.

Which most likely means one of two things, either you had a bad file (could be a bad download or transfer) or you are not S-Off.

The stock rom doesn't like the downgraded Hboot. Try Harmonia or Midnight.

Had you read the prerequisits or the warning, you would know that the stock rom will cause bootloops.

I already have the sprint 60690 PRL running on my Evo. So I guess I just need to do the hboot, radio, and PRI. So, in order to do those 3 things, I have to be on a sense based ROM like Midnight rom or something like that? 'Cause I'm currently running MIUI. Do I have to be s-off to do this?

I did everything in the OP correctly. I still cannot make calls/send SMS/MMS/use 3g.

I still get SMS error Cause Code 64, Error Class 2.

Wat do?

Doesn't that app cost money, though? I could be thinking of something else.
yea the full version which includes something like auto install and all those luxuries but the free version which is called recovery updater or something works just as good as twrp ;)

Okay, I finished this series of updates. Did them all running MeanRom. Everything works awesome, except one thing, I can't receive calls? I have no problem using WiFi, 3G, MMS, SMS, or placing calls. I get voicemails and what not.

Question is should I reflash MeanRom or try a different rom?

try re-flashing it if that doesnt work flash another rom, if that doesnt work try reinstalling the radio or try a different one :D, i did the series of updates but im still getting calls im running midnight rom

in my phone it displays my pri as 144 i just wanted to confirm this that i updated it and everything i know OP said something about different numbers for people with stock hboot, so im s-off does this mean my pri was updated it just displays 144 instead of 145?

That fixed it, stayed with MeanRom, for now LOL.

As for your PRI issue, mine shows up as 145. I'm on the modded hboot though.

Ever since I had flashed the radio, hboot, and PRI, I've been having issues. It says I have signal, but I can't send any texts and won't receive any. My girlfriend just tried to call me 4 times and the 4th time it finally went through to me. Is there just the stock radio I can flash to fix it? It's really quite annoying.

I'm a semi-noob at this phone, but have you tried updating your "profile" in the system settings? Try reflashing your Rom, it fixed my receiving calls issue. Hope I've offered you some help.

Well it took me forever to get s-off but I finally did it, and then flashed the new radio, hboot, PRI, etc. However, I've seen no difference in signal strength or the fluctuations. No radio error messages for texts so far though.

I can, however, now flash evo 3D roms which I'm STOKED about. Thanks so much OP.

Make sure everything stuck. I had that problem. I had to reflash until they stuck. ;)

So just because I don't know and I just got it today. What is the reason for using the older hboot and not the juopunutbear eng hboot? less compatibility?

Several reasons....
The phone has an issue where the signal fluctuates and will lose it's connection. It will, at times, think it has no connection, even if it does, and when that happens calls and sms don't work. This is aggravated by the signal fluctuations. HTC is supposedly looking into it. Finally, the stock hboot doesn't allow GB roms.

By swapping these parts out, you reduce the fluctuations and how often it thinks the connection has dropped, boosted the signal strength, and allows you to use almost any rom.

Thanks. I guess I will see those shortly. Lol

I'm using 1.58.5858 jbear hboot because I'm not interested in using GB ROMs and most, if not all, of the recent ROMs/kernels work fine with it.
