Root The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

Ok just a few questions:

1. How do you confirm it was a success
2. All you need to do is flash the hboot, Radio and PRI correct? As the last options as it states are optional.

If you think that's bad, don't go to work in I.T., that is relatively logical compared to some things I see.

Oh no... I am trying to get a job in IT.
But I have been messing around with this stuff for like 15 years... Never got a degree though, working on that now actually. Better late than never I guess.
I know what you mean about logical in the IT field... We are all shocked on a daily basis. :-\

I did IT freelance, its a seriously thankless job. You find more idiots than you ever thought possible, and you cant tell them "what the **** were you thinking when you did this" because it is a job... I am now a government contract programmer, much better job, much better pay, much more respect.

So, as a noob, my understanding after reading this is that you can now flash Sprint CDMA Evo 3D ROMs on an Evo V 4g. Am I right, or just clueless?

Has anyone had their PRL revert to stock? Mine went back to 61009 coincidentally after I topped up for the month.

Spoke to a Sprint engineer today. He said that almost all Sprint towers are being worked on as we speak. They're adjusting their towers for LTE and it's been an on going process.

All facets of their network are affected, sprint customers, virgin customers, boost.. etc.

The EVO V 4g may be a little more sensitive but other phones like the Shift 4g are affected as well.

Sprint Community: Error Code 64 Error Class 2/SMS texting problem?

If the PRL will just revert back to 61009; in most cases wouldn't it be best not to do all this work?

The engineer said most cities will be done at the end of September. If you are not having much of an issue today, you may be better off not potentially bricking your phone for a temporary PRL fix.

Incidentally, once you reverted back to 61009, do the radio drivers make a difference still and have you gotten less drops since?

Yes, you can use Evo 3d roms, but MMS won't work.

PRL changing has VERY little risk.
In fact, of all of the things you have done to the phone up to this point, it's the least risky thing you have probably done.

Mine has not reverted to 09.
And yes, I get fewer drops.

If anyone wants to have the stock rom but with the 0.97.10.0530 radio, I have been able to do it (without being stuck in a boot loop). Personally I like the stock experience, but I really appreciate the radio upgrade. You have to do everything Leslie Ann lists in the first post of this thread (using the 0.97.10.0530 radio) while you're on a harmonia type rom, but you then flash the RUU at http://www.androidfiles.org/uploads/ruu/shooter/ following the instructions at http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-a...evo-v-4g-ruu-flashing-guide-unroot-guide.html. BTW, if you're on the stock ROM, and try to flash a new radio, it will boot loop in my experience. This did not change the radio version in my case. It's the best of both worlds to me. I do appreciate all the devs awesome work.

Yes, Wimax works.

MMS cannot be fixed with QPST.

WiMax: Awesome!

MMS: It doesn't work if you flash a Sprint ROM, but your "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" process won't break MMS?

Sorry, lots of questions. Just don't want to brick my phone :(

MMS problems are related to carrier settings (i.E. Sprint vs Virgin), those are built into the rom.

Everything here is firmware, which is built into the phone and is rather generic.

Hey Leslie, I was wondering if this phone will roam, like a native Sprint phone would?(Once doing theses changes) I was looking at Sprints coverage where I'm moving to in Mississippi, and on the map it shows that I'm in the extended coverage area, but when I look at Virgins map, the area where Sprint gets extended coverage shows no coverage on Virgins map... I don't think its likely but thought I would ask anyway just to be sure.;)

It's a service issue.
Virgin doesn't have roaming, no rom can change that.

So even though I have a Sprint PRL, PRI, & radio, its not possible...understood. I know Virgin doesn't have roaming and that changing a rom wouldn't allow that, I just figured sense it( PRL, PRI, Radio) allows access to other towers that I could get service out there in the booneys but I guess not. :( I have been trying to find a better alternative other than C-spire wireless(Pre paid is a joke and they rob you for contract plans), or U.S. cellular(Doesn't have data). I can't go with Verizon cause I owe them money(Long story), I can't stand At&t(Had U-verse got screwed) or T-mobile (Dropped them cause horrible service & cs), Would get Sprint but they only have extended coverage, so service is not guaranteed. Cricket only has voice in my area. Metro doesn't have service. Guess I will keep searching. Wish I could keep this damn phone cause I love it not to mention the 35 bucks a month is great. Guess I'm just trying to find away to make this thing work but its not going to...:( Thanks Leslie!

Found this so Sprint is out of the question totally. Soooo, even if I could roam I'd be screwed.

If you follow the step in the OP but do not flash a ROM, do you get anything out of it?

I switched right back so I can't really say, however since doing this whole process I haven't had a single issue.

Uninstalled and reinstalled HTC Sync (also tried with just uninstalled), and I still don't have HTC Diag Drivers. So, I tried to update manually using the files found somewhere else in this thread...

Uploaded to my box here... http://goo.gl/Vt7Sy

And after trying to manually trying to update I get this...

http://puu.sh/YZWy

Any ideas anybody? Or perhaps another download for HTC Diag Drivers that I could use?

EDIT: For the record, I'm also getting that my device is unplugged (when it isn't http://puu.sh/Z03o )

Any ideas?
