Root The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

Flashed the .53 radio again and installed HTC mobsters and didn't get an error once today. hopefully not jynxing myself and hopefully not just luck but will know in a few more days.

Either way one full day without errors is nice in my book.

Cheers,

~Novak
you probably won't get an error anytime soon i cant remember the last time i saw the sms errors or radio interface shortage, ever since i installed .530 :D

I am running into a problem with qpst. I tried installing the diagnostic drivers a few weeks ago, but Im not sure if they installed or not. I found this today on how to install the drivers.

Installing the Diagnostic Drivers
1. When you get to the homescreen, It may take a few minutes to start up, go to the dialer and type in ##3424#
2. Now open Device Manager on your computer. You will see that another device doesn

I followed the procedure (flashed the bootloader, then the PRI, then the radio)...

Now, I'm getting "Error 67 unable to establish data connection...if it persists, call your provider..."

I tried "downgrading" the bootloader back to stock, and JMZ stock rom. Same behavior.

I tried re-doing the procedure with Mobster 2.05 rom. Same behavior.

I've tried other roms - harmonia, and Vanilla Mobster 2.05. Same behavior...

Thought I'd check before calling VM for help...

Everything else seems to work fine. Voice, texting, ethernet, (unable to test wimax-none in my area).

Help, please...

My wife's Optimus Slider 3G connection works in the same room.

My phone's 3G didn't work at home nor at work today (40 miles apart)...Everything else works fine...

I was having this problem for about ten days straight accept i couldnt call or text at all. i kept getting transferred and transferred and finally i got transferred to the highest support and they got my phone working again. they said that if the roblem happens again that i should call them again and they gave me a number to call them back. would you like this number lol?

Hboot, Radio and PRI install
We start with the Hboot, since it is needed for the radio.

1. Copy the Hboot PG86IMG.zip to your sdcard (the root of it). Do not decompress it, copy it as is.

2 If you are in Android, you need to reboot into Bootloader, then select Bootloader. If your phone is turned off, hold vol down, and power and it will go straight into Bootloader.

3. Boot to your homescreen.

4. Using the same procedure, do the same as above for the radio and PRI. Order shouldn't matter.

Do I flash these or just follow the instructions here? Just put them on the SD card then boot into boot loader, then boot home screen?
Thanks for the help.

I got the phone running on 3G again...Here's what I did...

  1. "Downgraded" Hboot to stock 1.57
  2. Booted into recovery
  3. Went into "Wipe" menu & had it "wipe everything / system reset"
  4. Wiped cache & davlik cache
  5. Went into recovery & restored my "pre-root" backup (mine was stock, right after unlocking boot loader)
  6. Attempted to "Activate" -- That gave me an error message that the phone couldn't be activated, and to contact Sprint (gave phone #s).
  7. went into ##25327# (##clear#) and had it reset/clear. (Tried this with Harmonia ROM--it would ask for password, and then power-down the phone when password was incorrect)...
After that, the 3G started working again :-)

Then, promptly re-flashed my Vanilla Mobster 2.05 image, and it continues to work!!!

No calls to Customer Care for me!

I can't QPST to find my phone at all. It shows up in my Device Manager with no problems, but QPST refuses to show anything. I followed the directions to the letter and it hasn't worked. Is there something obvious I'm missing? What USB mode should my phone be in? Charge only?

Did u use device config first?

Sorry, yeah. I can't get QPST configuration to see my phone. I turn off debugging, set the USB to charge only mode, start up QPST config, and dial ##3424#, and nothing. Never shows up, nor do I get any sort of indication from my computer that the phone is connected.

Anyone that has done this, how is it do you still get the error while sending text at all in highly wanting to do this but u wanna hear it from someone's whos already done it

It is a VAST improvement.

The first radio and PRI cut the troubles down to a fraction of what it was. The updated radio (in the first post) makes it non-existent.

Just flashed the radio and PRI. Figured I'd wait on the prl since it'll take me longer than 30 seconds to do. Hopefully the next few days are trouble free.

Thanks for the hard work and time everyone has invested in this project.

Figured I'd do the PRL also. Got stuck on:

5. Click on the “Ports” tab and “Add a new port”, select it based on what your phone connected as. You should find it easily enough.

When I go to ports there is nothing listed. I'm assuming I don't have the diagnostic drivers installed. I was able to see I didn't have it installed but forgot how I got there. Tried to use the zip and instructions linked above and it didn't work. When I'd select the driver from either the x86 or x64 folder it told me the driver wasn't a driver or not compatible with my system or something like that.

After an hour, I gave up. Oh well.

Just an update. It hasn't been that long since I flashed the radio and PRI, but I cannot believe how much of an improvement I've seen so far. I honestly didn't believe I'd see any improvement at all. Every message I've sent so far from my house has sent without a problem(not typical). I was even able to send a picture message from a friends house where I typically can't send/receive calls or send regular sms messages. I hope my phone continues to function like this.

If you are rooted and s-off you'd be crazy to not make the modifications to the radio and PRI.

So, noob question and i know i saw it on here about a week ago but just passed right over it, but can someone please break this down for me, step by step? I just finally got s-off (after a ridiculous hassle) and am running the ZR3DX rom (which actually does pretty well on battery; roughly 10-12 hrs/day with auto-sync and data off, and occasional use of Wifi)
I'm just confused. Do we put the files to the SD card one by one or all at once? I tried all at once and kept getting having to update the radio...

one at a time and make sure its just the PG86IMG not like PG86IMG_5

I'm using Chrome so it's like PG86IMG(1) or PG86IMG(2)

Put the files on the SD card one by one. And once you do that you need to make sure that chrome or any browser you're using didn't rename them. None of them should have the extra parentheses or numbers at the end if they do you need to delete those after you put them on your Sd card
