Root The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

Ok, I have a problem. I applied all of the fixes EXCEPT for the PRL update, but I can't boot the stock ROM, even if I wipe EVERYTHING and flash the ZIP. But on Mobster ROM, It boots fine. Am I doing something wrong? Do you have the stock Radio, HBoot, etc. ZIPs so I can try it again, because I don't want to reset EVERYTHING with RUU!

Uninstalled and reinstalled HTC Sync (also tried with just uninstalled), and I still don't have HTC Diag Drivers. So, I tried to update manually using the files found somewhere else in this thread...

Uploaded to my box here... http://goo.gl/Vt7Sy

And after trying to manually trying to update I get this...

http://puu.sh/YZWy

Any ideas anybody? Or perhaps another download for HTC Diag Drivers that I could use?

EDIT: For the record, I'm also getting that my device is unplugged (when it isn't http://puu.sh/Z03o )

Any ideas?

HTC Sync didn't work for me, but after searching, I found the driver files. You have to plug your Evo in, open device manager, remove any drivers for it, then do update driver software, browse my computer for driver software, let me pick from list..., all devices (If it comes up), and then have disk. Pick the INF file for your OS and then OK. It should show up as "MyHTC" in device manager.

It's a known issue, just flash a new rom. Harmonia is stock++

Drivers update:

The drivers I posted earlier should only be used for ADB and Fastboot. For Diagnostics, use this with the same process as my previous post:

HTCDiagDrivers.zip

Grrr... for My HTC, I was easily able to install the drivers. The DIAG Drivers on the other hand... don't like me very much.

EDIT: (Because I just love editing) I've tried the x86 version to, but to no avail. For the record I do have an x64 computer.

Leslie Ann thank you.

After a couple weeks of waiting and reading see how this was working for people, I decided to pull the trigger tonight.

S-off was painless, worked on the second try.
Flashed Harmonia
Then flashed Hboot, PRI, then radio.

Working like a finally tuned machine now. Itll be interesting to see what kind of improvement I get over the course of the next couple of days.

What were the changes in the upgraded radio posted to the FP?

According to the picture, you did this wrong. I'll rewrite and see if this works:

1. Open Device Manager

2. Right click on the device and remove any drivers installed for it currently

3. Right click on device and then "Update Device Software"

4. Click "Browse my computer for driver software"

5. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" DON'T CLICK BROWSE! (I think this is where you messed up)

6. Click "Show All Devices" or something like that

7. Click "Have Disk" and browse for the .INF file for your OS in the driver ZIP(s) I posted

8. Select "My HTC"

9. You're done! For the Diagnostics drivers, install them in the same way when in diagnostic mode!

Hope this helps!

YW
The old radio was a commonly recommended radio for the Evo 3d, but the one I posted recently seems to work better.

I started gettinga bunch of sms errors out of the blue, and went looking for a different radio. Gamikzone had dome a bunch of radio testing and tried his recommendation and saw an immediate improvement. The phone much works how it should.

Like I said in the OP, this is the work of a lot of people.

Asking again on a new page:

If you go through this guide, but do not flash a new ROM, what do you get out of it?

Out of curiosity what is it on the OP that doesn't clearly answer this question? Perhaps if you say exactly what the OP describes that the changes will do but you don't understand will let someone answer your question.

If you read the first post, particularly the prerequisits and the warnings, both answer your question.

Short answer, you get a boot loop.

YES IT WORKED! At least installing the drivers did. As for connecting to QPST on the other hand... that's a different story. All drivers are installed... it just doesn't like me.

I may just reflash the stock radios for a short bit of time. It's ceased to send text messages of place calls... anybody have them?

Are most people having success with this? Thank you for your time and effort on this thread, it's appreciated.

I may have done it wrong but I flashed each file individually and installed Midnight and did not have any improvement. About 10 minutes in I was still getting the error codes. I checked the settings and I was on the changed 1.53 radio.

Just re flashed and installed HTC Mobster. I'll update again if it works better

Cheers,

try a different radio http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/604546-link-radios-s-off.html

some radios will work better for you than others

Flashed the .53 radio again and installed HTC mobsters and didn't get an error once today. hopefully not jynxing myself and hopefully not just luck but will know in a few more days.

Either way one full day without errors is nice in my book.

Cheers,

Just to make sure I didn't miss anything. To change the PRL, I need to run QPST and that program is Windows based, correct?

If I am, is there any other way? Just a pointer to a thread with the info would be fine.

1. Yes, it is windows based. Are you looking for another OS?

2. What do you mean exactly by any other way? A different program for changing prl? There are many, its just that they are not as free as QPST. CDMA Workshop, to name one...
