If these instructions are too complicated for you, you're too inexperienced and unknowledgeable to even be trying what is asked of you. Full stop.
Unfortunately this is true.
You can only dumb it down so much before you have to admit you will do more harm than good. While this is really easy, and low risk, it does have the ability to really destroy a phone.
I think a lot of people are either just not understanding what they are reading, or are over thinking it. I'm tempted to just yank the PRL section as that seems to be the biggest problem, even if it;s optional, many seem to think it's required.
In reality, it's the most difficult part and gives most people the least benefit.
So here's a question....when attempting S-Off....Does the recovery you're using have anything to do with success rate/failure rate?
It shouldn't have any effect.
Same with "Fix Everything", nothing is done in recovery. Only the rom matters.
Ok I just got my HTC EVO V like 2 days ago and I already have this so called interface error and even sms errors ...
Now .. I'm reading this fix and it's sooooooo confusing. I don't know what all these PRLs S-OFFS things are. I'm completely phone illiterate. Can someone please dumb it down and give me an easier way to fix this problem.
Follow the requirements.
It says you need s-off, so you will need the S-off thread.
To do S-Off you need to be root, so start there. By the time you get done with root and s-off, you will have a better idea of what you are doing here.
One more question. I know Harmonia/Midnight are recommended for flashing the Hboot and whatnot...But what about S-Off? Is stock rom best for that, you think?
Harmonia works.
Not sure about Midnight for doing S-off, I have heard it will and it won't it might depends on the version.
Mobsters is a no-go for s-off and this.
That's probably why I failed. I wasn't on stock originally, but midnight. So let's see how it goes now that I am stock.
It's starting to sound like newer versions of Midnight no longer work for this. probably due to the kernel requiring a newer Hboot.
I'm looking into it.
