Root The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

I flashed the radio and PRI and I seem to be getting 1-2 bars better reception. The link to QPST for the PRL change does not seem to be working. It may just be the download site being down, I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks for this guide Leslie Ann! Great stuff as always.

Just Google it, qpst is all over the place. :D

Well, I'm trying to change the PRL, but when I open up QPST and go to the ports section, nothing comes up. I have all of the proper drivers and everything, and I have DIAG mode enabled. Any help?

EDIT: Well it seems like I don't have the HTC Diag Drivers installed. When I point HTC DIAG to the drivers in device managers, it says it doesn't find any, and I know that they are there.

wheres the pri? i cant download it is says some error msg. can it still work?

Is this still necessary? I've already rooted, unlocked and S-off with JuopunutBear hboot. My radio is the 1.09....version. software is 1.14....(both are the latest for Virgin Mobile) The Sprint Evo 3D is dead and no longer be updated by Sprint, so it seems pointless to do this and downgrade my Evo V Virgin Mobile. I have gotten no problems with sending texts, calls, signals, etc on my phone so just wondering.

Since you are S-OFF you can flash the RUU without unlocking your hboot or losing S-OFF status, then download and install the OTA. At that point you will be 100% stock and unrooted at the OTA level (build 1.14.652.0 with the 1.09.00.0706 firmware).

Then flash a custom bootloader (JBear 1.50.5050 or ENG 1.04 recommended) and a custom recovery via fastboot in that order. Use the custom recovery to do a nandroid backup of the stock ROM so you have it available for future use, and then restore a nandroid backup or flash a custom ROM.

It's not as complicated as it sounds, and should take less than an hour.

If you're rooted s- off you can find the latest radio and flash it. There's a thread with radios updates here. Just look around the forum I'm sure you will find it.

The OTA included updates to the radio and PRI, so if you are going to flash firmware only I recommend using the zip that krowley3 posted in the OTA update thread. The radio and PRI work together so it's best to keep them in sync. Note how xHausx has bundled them together for an earlier GB release of the Evo 3D firmware in this post.

If you're happy with the current setup then nothing else is required. :p

I thought the same :p. Flashing Mobster ROM HD Lite changed my phone to a Sprint EVO 3D, basically. Software version changed to 2.89.651.2 (sprint equivalent to 1.14.652.0) after flash. So this isn't really needed, well in my case anyway.

There's a difference between the overall build number and the firmware (baseband) version that comes with an RUU or OTA update.

The Sprint ICS build (2.89.651.2) includes firmware at the 1.09.00.0706 level just as the VM OTA build (1.14.652.0) does. The reason the ROM shows the Sprint build number is that the developer used that as a base, but that does not determine the firmware level as indicated in the baseband version in About phone/Software information/More of the system settings.

In other words, flashing the ROM and firmware are two different things and are only done together when an RUU or OTA is installed.

My radio baseband does say 1.09.00.0706. So, I don't need to do anything now right? I took the OTA update not long ago when I was on stock and it has updated my radio to 1.09 and software version to 1.14. Then I rooted S-off, installed custom roms. Never noticed a change in the radio version. It always stay at 1.09, the software version do change. Running Mobster i get the sprint software version instead

That's correct. Flashing different custom ROM's will not change your firmware (baseband) version.

so if we have 1.53_145 pri version we did it right?

Yeah, I changed my PRI from 1.53_144 to 1.53_145 after installing the PRI in this guide.

Also note that the Radio in this guide is not the latest version. The latest version is 1.09.00.xxxx

If you want to install the latest version look for the Hboots/radios/firmwares thread.

Becareful when updating the radio though, because it installs also the hboot that comes with the radio version. So if you have an older hboot and you install the latest radio, it will install the 1.58 hboot and re-lock your hboot! and could cause bootloops if you are running a rom that requires older hboot.

I got the Eng hboot, the pri and radio flashed successfully. But the last step with the PRL didn't yield success. I did get a cannot write to phone error at the end and my device rebooted. checked it still say 61009. I try to do it again but now the PQST doesn't recognize my phone and in device manager there is no MyHTC or anything related to my phone. The error mention something about NV file being read only. Can anyone help?
