Didn't 4.3 solve the issue of slowdown?
Android 4.3 supports TRIM, improves performance on Nexus devices

Isn't The One equipped with 4.2.2?

Ok, yeah, gotcha.

According to the blogs yesterday - the Moto X is also running 4.2.2.

Meanwhile - I just don't know from personal experience.

Sounds like TRIM is basically defragging the internal storage.

I'm running a +year-old phone that's had countless apps swapped on and off and I've seen no degradation due to that use.

:dontknow:

There is a lot of io improvements in 4.3, which is why the Nexus 7 saw dramatic improvement with the update. The Tegra 3 devices are notorious for having bad io, with the ultimate example being the Transformer Infinity.

Im interested in this Trim thing. Breadnatty recommended an app that alleges to do the same but like him, i dont know if its a placebo lol. Aparently the Trim in 4.3 it isnt a "fix" but more of a preventative measure so to get the benefit of it, youll have to wipe your device and start again

Gaming applications are naturally a combination of CPU and GPU tasks.

Setting load time aside, that game according to the reviewer was registering and responding to his inputs as well or faster than the One, ditto on the user experience.

And HTC Sense has always been hardware accelerated.

Either that game was sufficiently stressful and representative of its class or it wasn't.

My limited experience with Qualcomm apps is that they don't pull their punches - they want to show off their high end processors.

If true, then we just saw how a foreground app in the same sized total memory running on two hardware accelerated operating systems with the same Android revision just did.

If the app wasn't sufficiently stressful, maybe we didn't see the whole story.

But again, what we saw was very good.

And there's a fundamental hardware difference to account for the observable.

We need to see a lot more.

It's never wise to extrapolate to infinity from just two data points (pixels + app shown).

But I can't dismiss the observable quite so quickly.

Basically, it's clear that the expectation would be for the One to win.

Setting aside expectations leaves us evaluating the data by its own merits.

I can't accept finding reasons to make what we've all seen not so.

Maybe after we have a wider variety of data points, sure, no problem.

In systems testing we have a saying - one test is worth a thousand expert opinions.

I've been lighting up the lines behind the scenes to try to get news coverage on that video.

If successful, others will notice and run similar but different tests

Then we'll have more data. :)

Sounds about right tbh.

They could knock it out of the park with accessories like they used to do with the OG Droid / OG Droid X and car and home cradles that were very functional and were forward compatible the the D2/DX2 etc. Hell, make some decent cradles that are compatible across the X line and the price point of the phone gets more attractive as I don't have to completely accessorize with each upgrade.

You know how nice it would be to toss my phone in a cradle in my wife's car when I use it?

In done buying accessories order phone. Why spend another $50+ per car and house chatting spot and then not have anywhere for the site to really charge her phone. There is already a universal dock charging mechanism. Its called qi. I have car chargers and house chargers already for it so I would never again have to worry about that. Sadly the X is just Droid Ultra, the lame middle child of the line.

Just to play devils advocate my only problem with this video is that the HTC One has obviously gotten some use while the Moto X seems brand new. The One has a bunch of apps on the homescreen and in the app library. I wonder if this had any effect on the performance.

I hate that rounded back on the Moto X. Did you see the trouble he had using it?

But the performance rocked!!

The reviews I've read say it's very comfortable to hold in your hand. I rarely use my phone when it's just sitting on a table, I pick it up and hold it so if it's curved and comfy I'm OK with that.

I use mine as a desk phone (speaker or headset), calculator, radio, quick search, etc etc - so mine is often laying next to my pc and I tap it like that a lot.

But - because I do that I tend to roll with a case to not scratch the back or the camera, so the curvy back isn't an issue for me.

I now find myself defending this phone against people who talk down about it.

When the phone comes out that you think you want, you're going to get this and try it, return for the other if you don't like it.

:D

Sorry - but that's my prediction for today. :) ;)

Prices subject to change, tax, title and license not included, your mileage may vary.

I see what you mean there. It is a great phone, it has a lot of great features. It is far more innovative than what the people at Cupertino are doing for sure. Is just that being married to Verizon, there is no advantage to getting the Moto X over any other phone especially the Droids. That was an unfortunate move by Motorola corporate, to offer ATT a sweetheart deal for customization, give everyone else the black and white phones for who knows how long, compete against their established Verizon exclusive phone, compete against mobile giants (SGS4, iPhone 5), and upcoming releases to the Verizon network (HTC One, iPhone 5s or its it 6 or even 5c, and the spec beast LG G2).

That was the disappointing part. It's not the phone that is bad, just bad corporate decisions that ruined it for me.

The old saying goes..."money talks". All I have to say that this exclusivity stuff needs to stop. On a side note Verizon said that MotoMaker will be available later this year.

If any one on vz just can't wait. On eBay there's a vz prototype in white for sale for 799 or best offer. Looks a tad bit boogerd up though.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.
