I don't know what it is about your ROMs but this 2.2 ROM is working fine for me. The other two that I flashed and re-flashed had issues with lag. I can't wait for the final version.

Can we expect a modified MMS and Gtalk app? All I really was looking for was a black background and white text. :D

Thanks again Fab.

This new rom is awesome! Great work! I do have one question tho, any idea how to get visual voicemail back? It wasn't preloaded and when I go to the market for some odd reason it doesn't show up.

Is anyone else having issues with the Picture Gallery app? I have about 6 gig worth of music, 15 or so pictures and the app will not display everything. And it is very, very slow.

This is the file:

VVMStub.apk

First try installing it regularly, if it doesn't work that way, then you have to do this (assuming it is on the root of your sdcard)

Code:
su
sysrw
busybox cp /sdcard/VVMStub.apk /system/app/
sync
reboot

I really don't know if it's installable or not. Let me know, so I can update the OP. Thanks!

I can't get maps to work, I copied the fixed Maps.apk to /system/app and rebooted, but Maps doesn't show up in the apps drawer. What could the problem be? I even tried installing Google Maps via the market and it say installation unsuccessful.

Otherwise this ROM is awesome!

Fab - do we have to do the Maps update that you posted?

Did you follow the instructions exactly as listed in the OP?

@johnlgalt
I wasn't near a computer, so I used Root Explorer to copy Maps.apk from my SD card to /system/app after renaming Maps.apk to Maps.apk.bak in /system/app. Maps doesn't even work now when I rename the .bak file. I have used Root Explorer to do this for other apps and never had a problem. Is there a solution?

You gotta reboot before it shows up again.

John, you don't have to use my file. I just really messed up the original app (layers and labs cause it to FC, and it seems to take forever to find your network location)

Good to know. Last time I tried to get it on there something stupid happened - and that stupid was me - I b0rked it badly, and had to revert to FroYo. I never finished installing your Mod after that b/c I got involved with the Finals controversy, and then a lot of other things - so I am doing it now.

Thank goodness my laptop has BT so I can transfer the fix file - I already have your Mod ready to install on the phone, was just finalizing the backups.

I've rebooted 3 times. Never had a problem like this. Any help would be appreciated... I'll let you know if I fix it and what I did.

Did you set permissions after you copied it to /system/app? I did mine with root explorer and it worked fine.

Anyone else having this issue?

I use Advanced Task Killer (the free one from ReChild). I've always liked being able to kill apps and such with the push of a button. When I use it on this ROM the task killer itself isn't killed when I click the "Kill Selected Apps" button. And I notice that when I open the app to kill running apps LOTS of things are running (at least according to this app). Most of them are things I never opened. Just curious if this is happening to anyone else.

Yeah, I think it needs to be updated for full Froyo compatibility.

That being said, I haven't touched ATK at all. I find no need :)

Is anyone posting benchmarks yet?? I want to see some 2-5x increase in speed!
I'm using the kernel provided, I think its a P3 1ghz.

My Benchmarks (only the fastest i got):
Short: 197 ms
Long: 509 ms (personal record!)
MFLOPS: 15.828 (personal record!)

If I should post this someplace just let me know.

Anyone find out to install the original droid fonts?? Overall this theme is great. Look forward to seeing it with Pete's Bugless

Thanks

im getting a "failed '/system/app/Maps.apk' - no such file or directory"

when trying to fix the maps

I received that same error. Not sure if this will help or if this is your issue but if you renamed the original Maps.apk to Maps.apk.bak (like what Messenger13 suggested), then this is the command I inputted in Terminal Emulator. it worked for me.

su
sysrw
mv /system/app/Maps.apk.bak
busybox cp /sdcard/Maps.apk /system/app/
sync
reboot

I have with the default FroYo - it keeps running 3 apps I have no use for, like Visual Voicemail....but I don't kill them for any other reason than just because I don't use them.

will give you an error - you're missing a parameter. The mv command requires 2 parameters, a from and a too.

it should probably be
Code:
mv /system/app/Maps.apk /system/app/Maps.apk.bak
, as written in the original post by Fab.

See my sig.
I have never done long bench, but the short bench, I have gotten low 170's.
My MFLOPS are nice and my Quadrant score is very high.

Did you set permissions after you copied it to /system/app? I did mine with root explorer and it worked fine.

Re-installed the ROM and did the process again, still doesn't work. I'm going home to d/l the Maps.apk w/my computer and use busybox to see if it helps.

Thanks a bunch! I was out with the kids when you posted your reply but I was able to download straight to the sdcard and install with no problems..
