Root [TOOL] AIO ROOT, UNROOT, and RECOVERY INSTALLER (GUI EDITION)

or you could wait till it either works or fails without unplugging it and messing around. itll give you a little popup box as it says when you agree to the terms of use by clicking ok. you might just be stopping it before it finishes. but the terminal method should hopefully work for you if the fastboot method doesnt

Yeah, don't think I have fastboot drivers. Pry a good idea to dl em tho, just in case I need em (more than likely). Also, I got sick of it and unrooted doing the first step but 2nd step wouldn't work either. I wiped everything!! I have everything backed up through TB. Tried the update, it downloaded, went to reboot and the installation failed and aborted. UN.....F'N.....REAL. I can't win. Cwm is still the recovery. Wth do I gotta do to get this damn phone working properly? Tether gets kicked off constantly, update popups, phone just reboots when it wants to. All messed up.

cant flash a recovery using terminal mode while unrooted... and what are you trying to do the update using? also you shouldnt need to unroot to update no matter what method you use, the unroot option is only meant for those who plan to return their phones and dont want to get caught up with the whole warranty voiding aspect, and also for those who just dont want root functionality, anyone worried about their kids breaking their phone, anyone who just doesnt know enough about what to do and what not to do. all you have to do is install the recovery. if fastboot mode doesnt work for you you will probably need to manually force the driver, my tool has a link to my guide that will explain, it would have to be in that mode where the light is on and the green android guy is stuck on the screen though

now as far as the problems you are having... is the phone just rebooting randomly or is it resetting itself while tethering because even on the charger tethering uses more power than it can take in. also if you didnt already, kill the connection optimizer it will mess up tether and really just make your internet connection more unstable in general which in my experience its pretty unstable to begin with

my advice if you want to update though

reroot

use my tool to run a terminal install of stock recovery, try to run the update. if that doesnt work and you dont wanna just try to use one of the copies of stock b09 we have around here well i think ur sol. installing the recovery should work, but i cant promise the ota update itself will

Its the B09 update I'm trying to do. It downloads, verifys, reboots to install and signature failures and asks if I wanna still install untrusted file, I click yes and it aborts and green guy passes out with red thing on his belly:-(

I'll try turning that optimizer off.

The battery would be fine. I'd be using the phone internet, and the damn thing would just reboot outta nowhere.

I restored it to a rooted stock rom and tried the B09 update and it wouldn't work. I fixed permissions (not sure if I should've though??), tried flashing a recovery.img.zip file that's on my sdcard, pry some other things but don't remember. K, I'll root it and see what else I can mess up, stay tuned. Lol.

Because I don't know what I'm doing. Lol.
K, I rooted with the AIO tool, made a backup, used the terminal stock recovery and it worked. Says that stock recovery is installed on the phone. So, I'm guessing I try the update again. If that doesn't work, I'll try that link to flash it.

YAAAY!!! As far as I know, it worked. No failures. It installed and booted right up. Checked 'about phone' and its running B09 sw. Sweet teets. Is that all I gotta do now. Or do I need to take it off of stock recovery somehow?
Oh, and I can't install a picture on my profile on here. Keeps telling me to contact administrator or some ish. I'm on the app version right now but a week ago I thought I did one on the actual site but apparently that didn't work either. And it won't even let me sign in on the site now. It says I'm on, but when I click on forums, I'm not signed in.

thats probably the site its been doing that to everyone. but yea you can leave the stock recovery if you want. i recommend putting cwm back on it though seeing as stock recovery only serves that one purpose. it cant back up anything, it cant recover anything, it cant flash anything but official updates. its nearly useless

oh and also, dont try to flash any recovery.img.zip files, flashable ones dont exist so if one were to start installing for whatever reason youd break your phone. and if it says its a cwm backup instead of cwm flashable it wont install with the normal rom installer option you have to unpack it on the sd card

So, the volume down and power button to get into cwm recovery and then just click the reboot option? Or should I reboot into recovery through rom manager?

Yeah, was just asking if that will take me out of stock recovery and put me back on cwm so I can get full functionality of root access and able to flash and install and all that great stuff?

root access has nothing to do with cwm other than its required for the terminal install method. and i have no idea what youre trying to do now, you can press all the buttons you want on stock recovery its not gonna do anything worth mentioning, use my tool the exact same way you did to put stock recovery on. and you do realize that flashing a different rom will erase the update you just worked so hard to get on your phone... mind you, you can now make a backup of the b09 rom but upgrading to b09 before flashing awesome android or cm10 or anything is completely and utterly pointless it has no effect other than wasting time

when you install cwm it erases stock recovery completely, same thing when you install stock back over it, it completely erases cwm, cwm is no longer on your phone in any way shape or form it has to be put back on there with my tool or using a manual method

Yeah, just realized that. K so I do the terminal cwm standard recovery. Will it be rooted or do I gotta do that over again AND THEN do a cwm recovery? But then will the rooting eliminate the B09 update and restart that mess again?

I tried backing up the current rom with rom manager but it gets denied superuser access. And each time I go into RM, it tells me there's an update for cwm. Did that before too when it was rooted.

use junkie's tool to root, then use junkie's tool to install cwm. done :) Rom Manager is not recommended for this device.

Gotcha, thank you very much. I'll uninstall RM then. Will the B09 stay on as the updated sw?

yes, you will have the exact same setup but it will have root access and you will be able to make backups, flash other roms, etc from cwm :)

Umm, well, the tool SAYS it should be rooted then I do a terminal cwm standard recovery install, it SAYS it should be installed after maybe 10 seconds. I pwr off and then pwr on and vol down to boot through cwm and cwm isn't on there. And its not rooted. I can't win.

look in device manager on your computer to make sure the drivers are installed. if not, install them and try again. If so, junkie will need to jump in

I tried figuring out the driver thing lastnite and the tool recognizes the phone when plugged in, other than that, no other devices recognized. It rooted any other time just fine. Don't see what would be any different. Maybe I'll try it again using media option.

yea im gonna have to program in some new detection methods to tell you if its not working in some other way, as far as the thing not rooting though i dont know its obviously not a driver issue, you just seem to be having trouble actually rooting and i have no idea why. ive rarely ever heard of issues with rooting b09

only suggestion i can give is to try all 3 usb modes

I'm looking at the driver info right now and it says 'ZTE Handset ADB Interface Properties' on top of window. 'This device is working properly'. Driver version 2.0.10.2. Driver details has 3 files listed,'C:\windows\system32\DRIVERS\winusb.sys
........WdfCoInstaller01009.dll
.......WinUSBCoinstaller2.dll'
And then 'ZTE Handset ADB Interface' under value in the details tab.
The PC software didn't go through at all. And "charge only, media transfer" both SAID it worked but nothing really did work.
