Root TWRP v 2.0

@Ocn,
Bad juju. Scared me into flashing the new Amon-Ra. lol :)

Sooooo, I have finally updated my recovery. Mark the date! :D

yeah i'm sacred to touch my evo 3d right now. i installed the latest trwp 2.0 on it as well. i have not tried it yet. now i just too scared to do it. gonna go back to the previous version as we do not have amon ra for the 3vo:(

Isn't there clockwork for the 3vo?:p:p

Amon Ra is the Snizzle best damn recovery out there. I really like the Idea of Twrp and as soon as they get all the bugs fixed and having it working like it is supposed to then we may change our tune.

I would trust CWM on the 3vo, never gave me any problems. :D
Now that I'm familiar with amon-ra, I would hope it gets ported over too. :)

yes there is but i have had twrp 1.1 and it was flawless. no issues there. i might want to go back to it. i really do not like clockwork mod, i guess it is just hold over from my evo. early on when i first rooted with my evo, i had issues with clockwork mod so i switched and i have never looked back. i might want to test it out on the 3vo, but i'm not sure.

Im confused here... I did have an issue or 2 with the md5 signatures, but i just turned that part off, and viola. No issues since then. Now i feel bad for even bringing this recovery project up :( Sorry guys :(

No worries homie!! :)

You did the right thing by bringing this to the attention of the community. ;)

I'm sure they will still work on it, just not with the amount of devotion and fervor they used to apply. Also We'll probably start seeing more of these options across the board when it comes to recoveries. That is their mission now, to share their research, successes and failures with the community.

This is why I love the android platform, the sharing and the community. :)

I installed the new amon ra this evening... TWRP wasnt letting me restore its own nands... twrp was a great idea, but it was executed with some errors apparently :( I hope they figure the bugs out for the next version (cant recall what its gonna be called) cuz it seemed so promising :D

well agrabren is taking twrp 2.0 to a whole new level. i left teamwin (which they have abdandoned twrp altogether) and he is continuing the twrp 2.0 project. right now he is calling it phoenix.

From what I've read phoenix (TWRP3) is going to be a complete re-write. So i'm not sure its a complete continuation, but development on TWRP 2 will slow down.

Actually I think this may be really good for the community. My understanding is that they have opened up So upcoming developers can learn

First the Normal Disclaimer this is NOT MY WORK. Second I'm not sure if this is the same problem that Ocnbreze has with his evo. However this seems to be pretty serious.

Thanks go to Good&Evo for this.

TWRP 2.0 recovery bricking, reverting several HTC EVO 4Gs back to S-ON

Yesterday I was flashing a ROM using TWRP 2.0 recovery on my HTC EVO 4G. Weird stuff happened during the flash, and I ended up with the TWRP rebooting itself. What followed was a shaky ROM and discovering that I was now S-ON and unable to keep the phone on long enough to do anything about it.
I initially thought it was probably just my EVO's time to die, but what confused me was the reverting to S-ON, the screen going black after a while, and the "5 vibrations of Qualcomm" death. Usually if you get that you're SOL and the phone won't boot at all.
After a bit of asking people if my EVO was indeed dead, I was directed to this thread on XDA and learned that I'm not alone. It seems that TWRP 2.0 is bricking some users' EVO 4Gs due to NAND corruption. This doesn't appear to be a widespread issue (I counted four people in the last five pages of that thread), but if you're using TWRP 2.0 on your EVO 4G, you may want to switch to another recovery while you can.
I've tried stock PC36IMGs, RUUs, changing radios, etc. to no avail. Whatever I do, the EVO boots, runs for 4-5 minutes, refuses to talk to the USB, and then crashes. Now, I've flashed something every day for the past year or two with ClockworkMod, Amon Ra, and TWRP 1.x recoveries and never had an issue, so it's not like I've never done this before.
No fix for the problem appears to be available as of this writing, so take this as a warning and continue to use TWRP 2.0 at your own risk.

I believe Ocn was able to recover from his strange ordeal. I was chatting with him that night about the new recovery and how cool it was, and I immediately flashed the new amon-ra style recovery once the issue arose.
Bad juju indeed. :(

Edit: Just read that Ocn is infact having issues with the old girl. Hmmm thus sucks!

Yeah even Agrabren tweeted yesterday not to use it. Man, I actually used that recovery for a couple of days but switched back to RA. Thank goodness. Yuck.

yep i'm still dealing with my evo though i have not touched it in a few days. givning it a break. but yeah i still have s-on with no sd card and the phone will not talk to the pc. have tried the revolutionary drivers, the htc drivers all to no avail. i even tried to install the ota whic failed. the phone does work. it can boot up, but it looks like it is forever stuck in froyo land. Damn frozen yogurt:mad:

so be wary of twrp 2.0. however, keep an eye out for phoenix.

I appreciate all the warnings I see here, I was just considering trying this - Now I think I'll just stick with Amon Ra 2.3. (Especially since my flashing addiction has ramped back up to almost daily, I should probably just stick with what I know works well).
