Update on the Official Phandroid Application

Same here. I don't really need the app pulling news to my phone all the time, since I never read that on my phone.
Me too. I'm only using the app for the forum. So is there any way to disable the app from running in the background with the news and pms? I already have those two options unchecked in the app but the news/pm still show under Running Services.

No, but this is what we are hoping for

I know it's more or less been mentioned, but I think it'd be great if you could long-press a thread, post, or even forum to open directly in the browser. Just started using the app tonight and I really like it, but I think I would certainly like that.

Wish the various other forums I frequent had something as nice as this. Thanks.

I just wanted to throw my thanks in here with others.

I only recently discovered this forum, and only this past week the application. The app really works well on even my somewhat dated MyTouch 3G. For that, I thank you. Kudos to those that created this app.

Those services are really eating into my RAM. I have to force close the app when I'm done with it. Luckily I have a Rom that supports long hold back to do this.

Yesterday I installed the app .I browsed forums till 1 AM and lazily slept away by just clicking the home button.
The next morning 40(65 to 20) p.c of battery was out and the phanroid app was using 94 p.c of my proc power and 78/283 MB RAM !!!!!!.Is that a bug ?

Hi guys I'm using the phandroid app on my samsung indulge and every time I try posting a comment on the news part it seems to post it but I can't see it. I have tried restarting app, restarting phone, refreshing comments to no avail. Are comments visible to everyone but the poster or is this an issue I'm having? Btw I have had this issue since before the app was updated.

Its more likely to do with the fact we switched over to a different commenting system. You should be able to see them after you have posted.

I'm not sure whether this is a known problem or not.

Just tried commenting via the app again and it didn't show up. The number of comments did not increase to indicate my comment was successfully received and proccessed. I'm guessing now that this is a bug. And as stated before refreshing comments, force closing app and restarting nor restarting phone work.

EDIT: I'm not sure if the requested name/email fields have anything to do with it but I used the same ones as the forums here.

I don't think it's ever going to work; the website switched to a completely different comment system (disqus), whereas the app hasn't been updated to match.

It looks like the phandroid app is capable of displaying the disqus comments, but the interface for submitting your own comments is definitely still the old system.

and tapatalk works on disqus news comments?

i dont know.. but it works with all other forums..

and

they update / support faster!

how long has this app been out? and half is still under development.

originally it was security issues..
but is this site hosting military secrets? any secrets? why are all the other sites.. even XDA.. is ok with tapatalk?

Then I formerly request (demand maybe? Lol) that the app be updated to the new system. This is an entirely "Android" centered site yet its not entirely Android app friendly? Kind of ironic. Updating site for Android platform prior to the Window$ platform seems logical to me or that could just be my Vulcan mind speaking.

then.... i highly request that we get tapatalk back!!!!!

Android Guy is talking about the Phandroid News section of the app has not been updated to the new Disqus commenting system that is found on the Phandroid site. This has nothing to do with the forums. Please try to remember that the Phandroid app integrates EVERYTHING that you can find on the website. The app goes beyond what tap-a-talk can handle. You have the Phandroid news, Android Forums, and Phandroid on IRC that allows you to live chat with forum members.

All of these feat in the Phandroid app can be seen as their own app in their own right. That's what the other competing Android sites do.

I'm sure it's in the works. I will post here if I find out any more about it from the admins/developer.

Yea no disqus support in tapatalk at all, plus it was decided that no matter what tapatalk will not be supported here again

Like I said before, this site is ALL about Android so it only makes sense that it should ALL work on Android BEFORE anywhere else? I'm sitting in front of my computer only a short period of the day but my phones always with me.
