is it possible to install/get space on the phone itself for things like music and videos or photos instead of using memory cards all the time. Thanks

It is possible to flash a modified KDZ which will give you 234Mb of internal storage for apps, music etc. However you can then only flash ROMS that are no more than 150Mb in size (most are smaller). Obviously, anything you do to your phone is at your own risk.

HOw do I improve the battery as others are saying?
I watched 40mins of video from my SD card and left it alone for 7hours
it went from 100% to 55% after that! only watched 40mins of video no wifi, no bluetooth or anything :/

nope..the phone depends on the memory card for storing files like music, pics, etc...the phone memory is only used for apps that are installed on the phone...but if you're willing to hack your phone, then, it's possible :D

You can't, the internal memory is only used for apps and such data. Your pictures, music etc. are only stored on the SD card

I'd recommend installing v2.0 M5 (link) and flash the boot.img manually through fastboot. My battery life wouldn't even last a day before this update with light usage, after the update with medium usage after 2 days I'm still on 50%!

Also, for even more battery life, don't overclock the CPU

Hi Rocky7012 how would i hack my phone i dont mind giving it a go even if it breaks it because my memory vard clot is damaged anyway and my phone is useless without a memory card. thnx

You installed it through recovery? If you did, boot.img didn't flash. What you need to do is this:

Download the fastboot .zip folder and extract the boot.img to your C:\Android(\swiftdroid) folder. Then use the fastboot command:

Thanks heaps, I must have flashed the original boot.img file instead of the new one. Its funny, I'm 29 and I work for Cash Converters in New Zealand and I'm regarded as the technical guru there that everyone comes too. Yet on here I'm like a turnip muncher in the cheap seats lol. Thanks so much for your help. The battery usage alone in m5 is worth the change.

You need to flash the new boot.img, the one from the M5 update..

Well you can't know everything about all technology :p
 
hi again (:

i brought a new memory card the other day and it all worked fine on my phone untill i dropped it. when i reinserted the memory card i erased everything on i, now i always get a message in my status bar saying:blank sd card-sd card blank or has unsupported filesystem, i tried formatting it and putting thing on from my pc via usb mass storage but it will not even connect to the pc, it says its turning on usb mass storage but just goes back to the usb connected screen, can someone please help me with how to get my sd card working properly. thnx
 
Do I use:

fastboot erase recovery

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

If I want to update the clockwork recovery?

I understand that it can all be done in the command prompt but i'm just worried that im gonna bug it up. I thought you need to install the boot file on a pc. And you need the files in a folder called android?

Could you please tell me how i can organize things and what i need to type in order to install the new boot file.

Well the main thing inside boot.img is the kernel, if you have an old kernel working with newer system it'd tend to be buggy. Also if you don't have that new kernel you might not get the battery % increase that is mentioned in the changelog :p

Maybe your widgetlocker issue could be a lack of RAM?

Okay wait, this is the thing, I help so many people on here and it's kinda hard keeping track of different people :o Could you explain to me what you're trying to do? (e.g. install 2.3, upgrade to a newer version etc.)

Its ok i understand i haven't been in on like a month anyway i forgive you ;)

I have used a few roms including most of the swift droid ones from 1.8 to 2.0 (m5) (i never used 1.9 i heard it was worse so i didn't risk it)

I had m4 installed, then i saw m5 was released so i installed in recovery it with an error. I now have a new computer without any files related to my phone (such as kdz updater or anything)

What would i need to do on a blank computer in order to install the boot.img (at least i think its a .img) on my phone. Where do i get the file and where do i put it, in order to run the commands, etc.

If I update to M5 with recovery, I will have to fix something with fastboot. What if I just run a *.exe install of M5? Are there any problems with fastboot installation? Only down side is that my phone would lose all data?

Ahhh I see what you mean now :p

I made an .exe which'll update everything for you; just put the phone in fastboot mode and connect to your new PC. Then run the .exe and it'll do all the work :) Here it is.

It's alright, I started this thread knowing lots of people'll need help :p :D
