Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

yeah it says that the usb is connected .. can i have ur ym mr dudeman please??? now my phone is always rebooting ... when i turned it on the LG logo appears then it followed by the LG animation then it will back to lg logo again and so on ... T_T

Cool, sorry I didn't reply. Got busy last night. How did you sort it in the end?

You should be able to just plug it in, then there should be a notification about mass storage. Tap it and press the button that comes up.

follow question hehhe ... how can remove the built-in qqplayer ??? cux when i opened it , it always forced closed ... i tried to reinstall but i cant ...

Open root explorer and navigate to /system/apps then find the qqplayer's .apk file and delete it. If it won't let you delete it, tap the little 'Mount R/W' button in the top right corner and try again :)

my im using lg gt540
firmware version: 2.1-update1
kernel version: 2.6.29
software version: gt540-V20d-dec-01-2010
is it possible to my fone to do this? coz im really confuse aout the instruction of the thread starter pls hope u will help me..thanks

Yes you can, you will need to root your phone, I used z4root, you will need to google "z4root apk" because it is not on the market.

After that you can follow the instructions in the op to upgrade to CM7, both rooting and installing the custom firmware will void your warrenty though, and as long as you follow the instructions to the letter there isnt much chance of bricking your phone, if you are not confident with the manual install you can use dudeman's .exe installer which will do the upgrade for you, then upgrade to the latest version through recovery.

I dont believe the latest version has a .exe installer, so if you want to go that route then you will need to upgrade to the latest through recovery after you install the custom rom.

Yes you can upgrade. I've tried to make the instructions as simple as possible.. What don't you understand?
 
Hy guys i have upgrade my lg gt540 on android 2.3.5 and i have some problems with it.. I can't connect on network data only wi-fi i downloaded from market mobile data on/off app and i tryed with that and it says "This funkcionalily will not work on 2.3.3 and higher" thats one problem another problem is that when i upgrade phone i backup my contacts and i can't restore them... Sry on my english and thx...

You need to re enter the APN Settings for your network, these settings tell the phone how to use your network provider to connect to the internet. What network are you on in which country? I'll see if I can find the settings for you.

What method did you use to backup your contacts?

I have enter APN sett but it just wont go on net (i'm from serbia)... For back up i used MyBackUp pro and i go backup>data>local>Conctacts and when i wanted to restore it says that it was send on my e mail... Ou i forgot i can't connect with lg pc suit IV can u explane me how to do it... thx

Malo sam pricam Srpski :) Are you sure the APN settings are right? Maybe try calling your network to ask them.

If you used MyBackup Root, then download the app again, and choose restore. PC Suite doesn't work with this ROM

Try to follow the instructions in the first post.. Let me know if there's anything you don't understand.

I'm in the process of writing simpler instructions with less clutter and a much easier-to-navigate installer

I did everything in your first post, and now my phone is on version

Android version 2.3.2

I see people in this thread writing they are on 2.3.5 etc i dont understand how they are on 2.3.5 if i did everything right from first thread.

2nd thing is that there is no market app. when i install it screen goes white and crashes. i found latest market.apk on the webz and installed, then it asks for account. i go and try make one and i get an error

setup could not finish. unable to open connection to server

So i cannot get market to work. Any way to fix it?

I hope u will be able to help me, since its very hard to work without a market.

The latest upgrade is here SwiftDroid v2.0 RC4 http://link2me.ru/8118/http://depositfiles.com/files/omt7w62lc - recovery http://link2me.ru/8118/http://depositfiles.com/files/zwwhibfnh - fastboot More stable and usable with latest CyanogenMod version, pulled straight from Mur4iks twitter page, if you flash with the recovery method it will keep all your data and apps.

If you use fastboot it will wipe everything, it may be a good idea for you to use fastboot because of the market problem you are having, and fastboot could fix that. You will need to follow the manual install instructions for it though.

If you dont wanna use fastboot I would try deleting the market cache which could fix the problem.
