Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Hi,
Everytime I try to upgrade to RC0 (any version), I get the same problem in that my phone will not connect to my network. I get the message "Selected network (o2 - UK) unavailable. I am with Tesco mobile which uses the O2 network. If I revert back to M5 or M6, the problem goes away. If anyone can help it will be very appreciated as I would like the upto date version.
Many thanks
Ian

Sorry I haven't been here to help you with your problems, I've been on holiday the past few weeks :D But I'm back now and since there have been so many replies while I was away, It's too much for me to go through every one to see which has been sorted and which hasn't. So if you're still having problems, quote this post and I'll reply :)

hi sir....i'm having problem installing fastbot on my GT540....when i used the software you suggested to DL and update the phone it sends out an error message "Param: 100 Lparam :6"

help sir!thanks!

Or you could install it using fastboot and not loose any data. To do that, don't type in the 'fastboot -w' command - that's the one that erases all data. Just use these commands:
Code:
fastboot erase system
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
And you should be good to go :)

Thanks! :) I did :D

hey dudeman, is it okay if i don't type "fastboot -w" if i upgrade to other roms? i really want to keep my data coz it's very tiresome to restore all my apps everytime i try out different roms

Well going to another ROM should be okay, but sometimes it won't work and you get a bootloop. If you get a bootloop, restore the backup that you should make before flashing a new ROM and backup using Titanium Backup/MyBackup Root then restore it to your new ROM

I've now upgraded to 2.3.5 and have to say it's running well now, after a few hiccups in getting to install it thru recovery i then opted for a clean install thru fastboot and it now works fine! can any one tell me if Mur4ik is working on the capacity issue with the sd cards? i would love to get shot of my 2gb card for a 16gb or even a 32gb one! if the stock roms can cope with it surely it can't be too hard to sort out?!!! also a screen calibration would be sweet too! ;)

Are there capacity issues? I have a 4GB class 4 card that works fine and i'm sure people have said they have atleast 16GB ones.

Also I believe Mur4ik is working on screen calibration.

I upgraded to an 8GB class 4 from a 4GB class 4 and it works fine! I think it's something to do with the class of the card.. But I'm sure I've read that people have got 16GB working.

I think Mur4ik's working on screen calibration but he says its hard to do and to not ask when its getting sorted.

how do you know if your phone has been upgraded after doing all the processes that you posted? because do not see any difference

I have a 16GB class 6 kingston and it works perfect.

Settings>About Phone this will tell you all the specifications.

hey dudeman, i read in the first page on the plans for the next version about the core of 32 or 35. Is that going to happen or never??

can anyone tell me APN settings for Vodafone India network to browse internet?

There are now 3 Different APN Type as Per Official Vodafone site

Hutch_www (Full Internet)

Name = Hutch_www
APN = www
MCC = 404
MNC = 20
APN Type = default

Hutch_GPRS (Only for WAP)

Name = Hutch_GPRS
APN = portalnmms
Proxy = 10.10.1.100
Port = 9401
Server = http://hutchworld.co.in
MCC = 404
MNC = 20
APN Type = default

Create an APN from ONE of the two listed above... Since I'm not in India myself I can't say which of the first two APNs applies to your data plan that you are on so prob try it and then double check with Vodafone India to make sure it is correct!

Also, when creating the APN, fill in the stuff that is listed here and ignore any other settings not listed here and leave blank.

Finally, create another APN with the settings below for your MMS...

Hutch MMS

Name = Hutch_MMS
APN = portalnmms
MMSC = http://hutchworld.co.in
MMS Proxy = 10.10.1.100
MMS Port = 9401
MCC = 404
MNC = 20
APN Type = MMS
