Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Your best bet is use the stock 2.1 rom if you want to make minor steps.

Or jump straight onto 2.3.5 and follow the instructions in the first post using the fastboot method.

thanks...

i think i am gonna try V2.1 first...:o
can any one give me a site with all the infomation/links their, with instructions on how to complet the task with out bricking my phone:D

@Phantogenic
still having the same error message...

The only other thing I can think it might be is to go to control panel>device manager and then disable your LG modem drivers. Your phone should not be running mass storage mode nor should it be set to enable usb debugging.

have you tried this?

I'm just gonna, battery wasnt high enough for a safe install when I posted this. I'll update when I have had a look through it.

Just installed RC4 and there are no new system apps, but from first impressions it seems to run quite smooth. Seems like, as it says on twitter, its just a stability and performance update.

Sorry I haven't been here to help you with your problems, I've been on holiday the past few weeks :D But I'm back now and since there have been so many replies while I was away, It's too much for me to go through every one to see which has been sorted and which hasn't. So if you're still having problems, quote this post and I'll reply :)

"The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Everytime i reboot this happens but stops after a while, which is very annoying....

If you reflashed with recovery I would suggest using fastboot, which would eliminate any software problem, or try redownloading the update and trying recovery again, somthing could have been corrupted during the download.

My recovery zip including recovery.img is 98.2MB if yours is any differant somthing must have got corrupted during the download, also check it on the sd card, it could have always been corrupted when you copied it. The zip with just the update files should be 95MB when its extracted from the origanal zip.

If you are sure the zip is not corrupted then fastboot should fix the problem.

As I said yesterday and it is still true I have not had one force close with the update, I used recovery.

Edit: Welcome back Dudeman, hope you had a nice holiday :)

Or you could install it using fastboot and not loose any data. To do that, don't type in the 'fastboot -w' command - that's the one that erases all data. Just use these commands:
Code:
fastboot erase system
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
And you should be good to go :)

Thanks! :) I did :D
