in pokin around some i see mister scary has allready put forth a great deal of effort into figuring out what works and what doesnt(OTAs) and return to stock.

I'm running LeanKernel at the moment:
[kernel] Leankernel: Minimalistic Kernel (1.7.1, 1/20/12) - RootzWiki
and getting great battery life (although I'm also underclocking to 920MHz).
I might try Franco's kernel at some point, too (I've been running LeanKernel long enough that I should be able to do a valid comparison).
