[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Not sure if its rom related or not. But has anyone suddenly had bluetooth phone quality basically shit the bed for no reason? Every day this week I am unable to have a conversation with anyone via bt and understand them. Talking on the handset is fine.

Thanks in advance.

Wiped dalvik and cache, flashed this s3 addon? I can't see any difference. Oh well.

I'm presently on 37 stock theme. I don't like how cm9 themes, nowadays, break elements like my animated battery bars. Oh well. I was using natemodz red. Broke the battery bar. No more. Stock blue.

Did you dnld the RED zip in the download link?

You don't need to wipe anything before flashing this :)

Also make sure your flashing it with CWM not TWRP ;)

Edit: although now some reports are coming in that it worked with twrp... go figure

Does build 37 have the latest radios for the phone built in or do we need to flash them separately. I'm on build 34 and really would like a all inclusive package to upgrade from my i515.09 V.EK05/ i515 EK02 radios!!

thanks
Billd

This ROM does not include the radios. The radios can be flashed separately, regardless of the ROM, and then will stay with your phone, even after flashing a newer version of this ROM.
Try this link for the list of available radios for the VZW Nexus:

Does Google wallet work for anyone? Mine has the unsupported banner and hasn't worked on prior builds. If it does work, could someone point me to a working apk?

Let me see if I have this right. This ROM includes the newest 4.0.4 from Google minus the radios? When VZW ever droops the update, it will include 4.0.4 with the radios?
Just wondering why there not a all in one package choice for those of us that would want to upgrade to build 37 and then not have to flash the newest radios. I would guess VZW will have it all in one package? Or is it just not technically possible? I thought I read some ROMS have everything included. On a side note, I love AOPK, just curious about my question.
Thanks
Billd

Radios should never be included in a custom ROM imo. For various reasons, but specifically because it is NOT official, and because radio flashes are much more risky (aka bricking). I know if I developed a custom ROM I'd be scared straight if I'd also included radios! Imagine the liability involved

Since it is so simple (flash in CWM no wiping necessary), since radios vary widely depending upon region, and since they are NOT official (yet), it only makes more sense imo to never include them in a ROM. All my opinion :)

Yes and no dice. Could changing kernels or roms possibly do this?

Possibly. Flashing kernel "A" over kernel "B" causes issues too. (i.e. leankernel over glados kernel or whatever)

Make a backup and try a new kernel out. I'm inclined to believe that the kernel does affect BT.

See my previous comment. Safest thing would be to just reflash your rom and see if that fixes it. Only then would I flash a different kernel.

You mean the easiest thing right? :D

It's safe to make a backup and flash a new kernel too!

So before a fresh flash of AOKP (build or milestone) this is my best practice:

Backup all apps with Titanium Backup
Backup all messages with SMS Backup+
Backup Nova

Here's what pertains to your problem:
Wipe data in Apps-->All-->Wallet

Make Nandroid

Wipe everything

Flash ROM, GApps (anything else)

Restore Wallet (w/o data)

Sign into Wallet

Works every time!

Yes you must enter card info again but your Wallet will always work again!

Hey guys, sorry if this question has been asked before (there's way too many pages to flip through). Hypothetically speaking, if I'm on M4 and i want to move on to M5, do I flash M5 without having to wipe my phone or do I treat it like i'm flashing a new rom? Is it the same way with the Build versions?

I'm not sure on this, but I think M4 is based off 4.0.3 and M5 is 4.0.4. I really can't remember and it doesn't specify via the changelogs on the AOKP site.

You could however, make a backup first of your present M4, then "dirty flash" M5. By this I mean to just wipe cache partition and dalvik cache (everything will stay intact) prior to the M5 flash. If you run into issues just restore your backup, make the necessary backups (Titanium/SMS/etc...) and then fully wipe (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik). If you don't run into issues then  gl!

Know where to get the apk? I can sign in and set up my card, but nothing happens when I get near the sensor.

Just a quick question...but is your NFC turned on? (Its in Settings > More....)The above steps to restore wallet after a new ROM have worked for me, every time. I have also had my wallet update to the newest version etc. Just keep in mind that since you (and most of us) already have wallet..(the download work-around used to work in order to install it..and I am not sure that there is an available apk with the newest updates for VZW anyways.) then just reloading the app should enable your phone to work. Can you check to just make sure that NFC is on? It works for me...as long as I hold the phone on the pay pass machine till it tells me it went through it works great.
And good luck!!

I flashed it last night. Works perfectly. Did you dnld the correct zip and flash in CWM?

"If you are upgrading from Milestone 4, I would highly suggest [and] urge a wipe."

Taken from AOKP M5 release page.

I flashed new radio's from a link someone posted on this forum. The official Google version was available. My phone still places and receives calls. Has anyone else done it? The phone responsiveness seams to have bottom better... is it my imagination? I also flashed M5 last Mon night and the battery life is crap. I'm gonna try another colonel and see if that helps. If not roll back or upgrade again. Its just such a pain in the ass to set everything back up after a fresh flash. Anybody make a user app restorer... more like profile restorer? Ands thanks for the link to the 4.04 radios

You have to be careful restoring apps and settings. If using TIBU, restoring red and green items is risky and could cause problems. You want just apps and app settings.

This is safe: open TIBU, tap batch button (at top with checkmark), choose restore missing apps with data, go thru list to select just items to restore are selected, tap checkmark at top to run it. You may need to clear filters on backup/restore tab, if you used that feature previously, otherwise your list of apps will be quite short.
