[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

Just flash the p-sphere by itself - menu/settings/JBSourcery Tools/Mods - scroll down to Mods on this tab "download extra mods recommended for sourcery ROM" - and you should see "Camera 4.2 w/ Photosphere" - download it, flash it in recovery.
(I didn't have to delete the other camera apk)

What is HDR? And why would I choose one camera over the other?

HDR - high dynamic range. Basically, you take a series of images (without moving the camera at all), each shot with a different exposure setting. HDR combines the best parts of the overexposed, underexposed, and balanced pictures to create a dramatic image with (hopefully) better shadowing and highlights.

More at: High-dynamic-range imaging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In my personal opinion, HDR is kinda hard to get right on a cellphone camera (just because it is hard to keep the camera stable/motionless thru' the three shots). If you can do it, absolutely - HDR can get you good images (note I said "can" - not "will" - it depends on what you are photographing, and the lighting etc)

Sorry to continue the side track, but ^^^ HDR on a cell phone is a total waste. To begin to make a HDR image work, you must have the camera on a tripod and preferably with a remote shutter release; two things that are not going to happen with a cell phone camera.

I'll take the photosphere, thank you very much.

I'm thinking of changing mine around to go P-sphere myself. I'm never gonna touch the HDR on purpose on my phone. My Canon, sure, Nexus...notosmuch. Just when I think I'll be stable for a week... lol

I was having some minor problems with zebra gapps so I tried doing it dirty by Chief's suggestion. Not his fault but I didn't have as much luck as he did. So I clean flashed and went back to maximus inverted with great success. 5.1.6 experimental is now my daily driver.

I also want to take some time to thank the devs for a great ROM and all their hard work. The zebra gapps is a great idea. I can't wait for it to be solid. I also want to say that anything I post here in the way of problems, is simply to see if anyone else is having issues, or to find out how to fix something that (typically) I have done wrong. I am in no way complaining about this ROM. Even if my voice search and voice input was still broken, I wouldn't be hating. I love this ROM.

Anyone else noticing that the weather icon on the magic clock widget on the lock screen shows an error-no data, press to update. Then nothing happens if you press. I noticed it on dirty flash then played around with a clean flash last night. Same thing. Just curious if it's just me. By the way, 516 has been awesome... No bugs to speak of.

This is by FAR the WORST ROM that I've ever flashed. The first time that I flashed it I modded it using the tools and "sourcery" add ins and it stopped working. By stopped working I mean the home button stopped responding and the menu in the drop down menu stopped responding. I flashed it again and ONLY tried changing a few minor things using the "tools". Once again, the home button and drop down toggles menu stopped working. I flashed it a third time and made NO changes and again, the home button and toggles menu stopped working. This has to be a beta or even alpha build. It is HORRIBLE.

Yes, I did wipe data, cache and davlik cache clean with each installation and NO I did not use Titanium Backup to restore data for anything other than a few games.

I am not a novice at flashing ROMS. I've flashed hundreds before.

I'm sorry for your bad experience. Which version did you try? I too am not a novice and have tried A LOT of ROMs. This is my daily driver and one of the best. Your experience is not typical and I wish you'd stick around to get some help, but I also understand this ROM (or any, really) is not for everyone. But the devs here are really special!

Here's a link to the newest version 5.1.6, which is rock solid for me. Don't use the zebra gapps, they have some work needed still, but 5.1.6 with regular gapps should yield stable results.

Cincy sorry to read that you are having issues with this ROM.

With being experienced at ROMing like you say, you probably know if others aren't reporting this same issue in arguably the most popular Nexus ROM it is localized to your phone.

I see two options for you. Make sure you are doing full factory reset then load ROM, Gapps, without custom Kernel. After restoring essential apps run ROM and make your changes to see if there is a recurrence of your issue. Then add apps back slow to see if there is a conflict. Finally a custom Kernel if you chose...

Or go back to what worked in the past.

Good luck.

Words of advice if are looking for help you should be more specific on what you were changing.

Sorry you are having/had issues. Not heard of anyone else with the troubles you have had so am perplexed as to what the issue could be. I dont see you mention wiping system or doing a factory reset, could be issues with data in the system folder.

just a question as the things you described occur when gapps arent installed.

did you install gapps???

Cincy,
I've found my GNex didn't like sourcery either. The rom looks great, but I guess I have a fickle phone.

I went from 5.1.5 to the latest .7 last night. I didn't have time to factory reset so...dirty flashed this one.

Everything is working/running great but I am unable to find the spot to change toggle text color. In 5.1.5 this was in toggle setup(I think) is it still there and this is just a symptom of going dirty or has that feature moved or been removed?

Since everything else is working perfectly didn't want to go through factory reset just to find out it is still missing.

Good point. The first time I changed my boot animation, lock ring, wallpaper, theme, and anything else that I could try. May have been too much, but I figured that if it was there why not try it. It crashed. I chalked it up to too much too soon or maybe even too much period.

The second time I changed my boot animation and wallpaper. Things I've done a hundred times on other roms and other devices. Nothing special. After a reboot. The settings inside of the drop down menu stopped working altogether as it did after the first install. Also, the only way to get back to the home screen or out of any app was by pressing the back arrow.

The third time, I didn't change anything and once again the settings button and home button stopped working.

I wiped data 3xs, I wiped cache 3xs, I wiped davlik cache 3xs prior to each install. I even tried a dirty flash over the 2nd install to see if that helped. No help.

Yes, I wiped all 3x's then clean installed the ROM then installed GAPPS, then booted.

I think it very well could be my phone too.

I suspect if this is the worst rom eva for Cincy, she's done messing with it. :D

Yes, back to JDX for me. ;)

Yeah its not there anymore toggles have been totally redone and havent re implemented that yet but they were switched because it gives us more options to be able to do and work more reliably.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hesitant to try 5.1.6 before mainly since it is experimental, but it is working perfectly so far. It's like 4.5 again but..better. :P I don't know why I had so many problems with 5.1.
