Wow! Same thing here exactly. Worked ok for a few days, then started this. Restored 5.4 nandroid I made just after I first flashed it and wi fi now OK again for a while. I think we are getting the signal from the router but the signal from the phone isn't getting to or is not acknowledged by the router so we can't get to the web. Something in the phone Wi Fi script must get changed somehow. IDK enough about it to tell for sure. I really want to stay on Sourcery until at least August when I get my S4.
Haven't had any WiFi problems on 5.4 yet, but have had System UI crashing fairly often. System UI also takes a long time to start on boot. Been stuck without any means of navigating a few times already.
@wtherrell, what gapps are you using with 5.2?
I can connect to other wifi networks both open and with the same security keys that my router has. Comcast tier 1 couldn't fix it but tried to send me to a pay service to get it connected but I refuse to pay for that.
So I just don't know what to do because I can connect to wifi networks on 5.4 but not my own.
Try resetting your router@wtherrell, what gapps are you using with 5.2?

I am bummed. I have been using sourcery for about as long as I've had my Nexus.
With the last two versions I have had system ui crashes and it renders my phone nearly useless. I have not had navigation buttons going on nearly 4 hours now. If I want it if an app I have to restart, and still no nav buttons.
I clean installed, used super wipe, didn't use tibu.
I have used ROM toolbox because it has a system ui restart option, but that doesn't help. It's maddening.
Anyone have any advice. I'd really hate to leave sour very, but I have to have a phone that works.
Having no issues with Play updates on my install, but I'm using the White Magic Gapps (still having issues with SystemUI though, so I'll probably have to reflash anyway). Is anyone else having trouble with Google Play after clean flashing 5.4? I get errors every time I try to install or update anything!
I suppose I could dirty flash the ROM & Black Majik Gapps again, just to see if that hung up or something... not likely but I'm running out of tricks here.
EDIT: Dirty Flash didn't help. Nothing installs or updates from Play.

Got it! Figured it out. Simply had to remove the Google account that Play was synced to, and then recreate the account. Bam! Downloads and updates. That was my main issue... 5.4 is great now, thanks!
Gonna try a new kernel fit the system ui issues. Don't think it's going to help, bit I am willing to try anything.
Well, maybe I finally have a fairly stable 5.4 Encore that keeps working on WiFi and also does not crash System UI. Doing a clean flash of 5.4 did not work for me at all even though I tried several times.
I went back and did a complete wipe (TWRP) and restored my nandroid of 5.2. Problems went away. WiFi OK and no UI crashes where nav buttons and notifications were lost.
I then dirty flashed 5.4 Encore and White gapps on top of 5.2 letting google restore the apps. I then disabled the 180 screen rotation and auto rotate functions in the settings menu and rebooted.
4 days in and So far, so good. No UI crashes and wifi punches thru to the web. I really like 5.4 and want to keep it but know I can go back to 5.2 if needed. My upgrade is due in August but now my GNex is so good I may wait for a NExus 5! (Hope I didn't jinx it by saying that. )
I appreciate the continued support for JBSourcery, folks! Here's something that has persisted from 5.3 to the Encore:
Panorama camera mode. Didn't read anything in the known issues about it, but my panorama mode is borked. I hold my camera horizontally, but the image on the screen is a stretched-out vertical image. If this can be duplicated (I trust it can, it's been on my phone across 2 JBSourcery ROMs), I would really be grateful for any effort or advice to correct it. I don't use it often: but when I need it, it's nice to have it there.
Thanks
